I’m in the same boat as you- been in a wrangler every day for the last ~20 years. Quality and reliability has consistently declined since the Daimler merger. I love the drivability of the JL/JT platform, but reliability is paramount. Stellantis wonders why their sales are plummeting? Time to go back to the basics of a dependable product and a quality relationship with the customer.
Personally for me it's not even the reliability. I really haven't had any huge issues aside from this one in 73,000, mi. Not counting death wobble problems My issue is with them stating that the turbo is covered in 100,000 mile powertrain warranty and then somehow moving it to a hidden 70k mile warrant that no one knows about. It's just extremely sleazy to me and I'm sure Jeep doesn't really care but if they had just honored what the warranty says and covered 5K turbo they would have sold another 60k plus vehicle and that have won't be happening now

Did the people who said the turbo was moved out of the 100k warranty provide any supporting evidence to invalidate the previous standing warranty? AKA standardized letter that is mailed to all owners notify then of the change? If Jeep has it stated one way in printed official documents you receive on purchase but then moves the field goals without formally notifying ppl, then it sounds like a warranty violation lawsuit to me.

Really no different then all those amended contract notifications you get on bank statements or health insurance documents that state certain contractual langue has changed.

No they were under the impression it should be covered as well. I sent them the PDF of my warranty where it specifically says "turbo and all internal parts" it took them a full day of digging into it trying to figure out why it's not covered. The dealer eventually told me that apparently the turbo now falls under some other type of warranty that ends at 70k they said it was strange because other models that had the 3.0 engine were covered in there systems. I was never notified of this change and I don't think anyone else was that I know of. I think your right that it breaks some warranty rules but it would cost me more to get a lawyer to deal with it then just paying another shop to do it. I'm sure Jeep knows most people won't challenge them.

Hello everyone sorry to here the POOAF problems many are having I took the jeep in on Aug 19 2024 they got the turbo on Aug 30 I was told they were going to put in on sept 3 rd kept gettting bumped just got it back sept 27th I drove to one of the places that would throw the light this time it did not it pulled the grade in 7th gear 73mph the other place I go to is closed because of the fire so I will have to wait till they open it and try it over there. So now for the dealer BS the paperwork said they changed my turbo back in Dec It’s on the receipt ,on or around Aug 26 while talking to Rick he said they didn’t ,that is why there changing it .After the first week or so Got a call it’s going to be a couple of weeks a new person because Rick is no longer there so the waiting game began hoping everything keeps working , the engine sounds like a diesel now it was very quite before, as these progresses I will gladly let you all know, any one is welcome to contact me for further information if you want

Seems like a party. SO it was the turbo actuator having sheared teeth that failed. It's hard to tell if this is your second turbo or third?

Just an update on my experience with P00AF. Twice in 400 miles I had this code come up (southern NV and central AZ). Both times with about 500lbs payload and not towing, both times pulling long (~3mi) grades at speed (~65mph). Immediate detune, CEL, service traction and throttle warnings. It felt like the wastegate was left fully open on detune. After the second time, I made a conscious effort to not let the turbo stay in high boost situations (drop to 35-45mph on longer grades, avoid cruise control, watch oil temps as an indicator of under hoods temps rising. Drove 2400 miles home over 4 days, fault has not presented again. No pending codes, no hard codes. My guess is that prolonged high EGT and turbo temps are causing an electronic fault somewhere that tells the computers that the turbo actuator is not responding appropriately, which causes the wastegate to default open in order to prevent a runaway situation.

anybody is in the desert and wants to try to replicate the issue, my two instances were:
NV: Warm springs to crystal springs, eastbound on rt375. Ambient temp 91°
AZ: i17 northbound from Camp Verde To Flagstaff, ambient temp 85°

Both times maintaining a constant 65-70mph

Factory height, factory 285/70r17, no aftermarket tunes or modifications to drivetrain whatsoever

The paper in December says turbo but was told they did not do it then. This time they did had to remove cab personally I don’t believe the teeth were missing wouldn’t that cause it to run terrible?
