I've never paid MSRP for a vehicle. That's just to make you think you're getting a great deal when they cut 5k off the price. My GC Trailhawk sticker'd at over 48k and I ended up paying just over 42k. If you buy towards the end of the season or month dealers sometimes are a little more motivated. However, with the crazy hype being worked up, I can see people paying an asking price because they've got to have it. ;)
Yep... I always took MSRP as sales crapola. And, the more expensive the vehicle, the bigger the discount that comes off. It's why there are all the dealers with the JL that sell 5, 6, 7% below invoice. They're not losing money, just not playing the game trying to get someone to be ok with paying more than that and making up the difference in volume. They get word of mouth referrals (like us on these forums) reducing advertising expenditures and customers get a good deal. I think it's great and hope it continues.

No you’re right on. Part of my original post was just venting about this situation. The other part is basically telling the people that say they will pay and pay to “wake up”. You are the reason that Jeep keeps raising and raising prices.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Jeep. Every since getting my first one in high school, over 20 years ago. The minute I drove off the lot in that thing, I was hooked. I still remember the feeling of when I first Took the top and doors off. It’s a great feeling. Wiser now then back then, that’s why I see these little, or big price increases. When Jeep sees people will pay 40k and 50k for something that looks cool and is not really that reliable, they will not hesitate to increase the price as much as possible for everyone. It’s already been done before our very eyes.
HEY . . . don't blame ME, I am not "the reason jeep keeps raising and raising prices" . . . I didn't invent the "game-rules" or the "game" ! And I DON"T like the way the cards are stacked against the players (us). I'm  as hell about it ! Now, if by "you," your referring to ALL consumers, in general, then I forgive you ! :) :like:, :like:.

I do realize that.

That’s why I’m saying, people commenting on how a base Gladiator is starting at 40k or over is absurd and ridiculous. Jeeps are already ridiculously overpriced

Has anyone ever seen the jumps in price from the 4 doors from 2007, I believe when they were first introduced, until now? Huge jumps in price initially.
Jeeps, in general, are overpriced. My 2013 JKU Rubicon fully loaded (every option except remote start) was a MSRP of $44K. The only Wrangler that was more expensive at the time was the 25th Ann Edition which was another 4K on top of that so $48K max. Today my same configuration in a JL is $10,000 more. That's insane IMO.

I think the reason everyone is saying a base of $40K is they are mostly looking at non-sports. Any Overland or Rubicon trim will easily be over $40k IMO. Which is pretty crazy considering all other mid-size trucks top out around there. I think Jeep is going to charge a premium over the other mid-size picks up which will be fine initially as there is a lot of pent up demand, but once the first wave of buyers purchase them I think the price is going to keep a lot of regular non-enthusiast buyers away.

I'm a perfect example of that as I love the Gladiator, but to get the same configuration of my JKU in one with the diesel I'm easily going to be in the mid 50s even after 7% below invoicing pricing. For the same money I can get a 1 year old Ford Raptor which is a lot more of a truck.

Yes. Great band. I Didn’t think anyone would catch that.
Nice! They're my favorite band. I saw that name and said "no shit". That's my favorite song from SNW.

I do too. But I also find myself going to GMC and building an at4 for probably the same price at the same time which I may bite the bullet soon on -_-

Reflecting on an expensive divorce might cure this affliction!

I’m referring to anyone silly enough to say “I’ll pay anything for one”, including 2nd mortgaging their home. It’s ridiculous and Jeep wouldn’t mind if someone was stupid enough to do it.

Jeep will have to have somewhat competitive pricing. They get away with more with the Wrangler, because there aren't a lot of vehicles out there that can compete with it. However, there is quite a bit of competition in the mid-size market. I see low 30s for the Sport and low 40's for the Rubicon. That would keep it in line with the competitors out there.

I agree.

I’m nearly positive that’s what it will be to logically compete with other mid sizes. I was just completely tired of seeing people stating these off the wall ridiculous prices.

In my opinion, there are no vehicles that can compete with the Wrangler. It is in a class of its own even though they try and put other vehicles against it. You are absolutely correct about the JT being designated in a class. The JT will have direct competition with other midsize trucks. For this reason and this reason alone I would think FCA will price the JT with what the rest of the midsize market is at.

Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Double Cab Automatic.
My package included the ÂĽ-inch thick aluminum skid plate, and front hod scoop. 18 inch wheels with Bilstein shock absorbers. All the stuff that I would never really need, lol.
You sure you’re not talking about a TRD Off Road? Pro’s come with Fox. The Off roads like I just got come with Bilsteins...

Edited to add, I’m not arguing in favor of more, or less pricing for the JT. I already bailed and just bought a TRD Off Road Taco. But I will say there is no way anyone is going to buy a fully loaded TRD PRO for under 42. I know cause I just priced these things when shopping around for mine. My OR was priced at almost 41 and change if Imr call correctly. So not even close for he PRO.

just sayin.
