Help with backspacing / offset / aesthetics

Got this JT secondhand with a hodgepodge lift. Just replaced all suspension components with Rock Krawler with a triangulated 4 link (super cool) and now it's time to work on tires/wheels. Not of fan of how these look. I've always liked the way factory wheels look.


I want to go to a 35x11.50 vs the 35x12.50 that's on there now.
Can the factory wheel support a 35x11.50 without rubbing?

If not, what wheel backspacing should I be looking for? What's on there is an ET-6 17x9.0J

Which factory wheel and what 35x11.5 tire are you looking at?

Broad basic I think a factory wheel is 17x8.5 or 7.5 so you should be good as far as rubbing goes. You’ll have to check specs on the tire to see the range for that specific tire but most 11.5 I’ve seen will mount on a factory wheel.

35X11.5R17LT BFG K03 is my tire of choice.

Those tires will fit on most OEM wheels. Next time you research look for the width range of the wheels that they can be mounted on. Compare that to the wheel width you want and see if it fits within that range. Keep an eye on FB marketplace. Factory wheels go up for sale all the time.

If I only changed the wheels and kept these tires, the tire would be 50mm more inboard?

What model JT? Looks like you have the low front fenders, and IDK if you have wide axles or not (max tow). If not, 35’s may not fit without rubbing on stock wheels. Best option would be to find some Mojave takeoff wheels as they have the widest OEM offset at +37

Overland. Does not have max tow.

11.50 will fit without rubbing, 12.50 will rub at full lock. When I first went up to 35s that is what I ran into, I would get the rub reminder when I made U-turns.
