They've done that for years. I know a fellow who said he was saved by these records. He was facing big lawsuit as well as traffic violations - was accused of being the cause of an accident - of not stopping and of speeding and hitting him at an intersection. The other driver said he failed to stop or yield (I can't recall the exact details, the guy told me of this a few years back) The vehicles in this case only kept like the last few seconds of any given time-frame but he said the computer showed his speed and brake application and it was proven the OTHER driver was at fault. So while others complain, he was thrilled that since he'd done nothing wrong that technology proved it. Case dismissed.
This thing with the Jeep is not new at all - GPSs have done this for years - they know the area speed limits and obviously know how fast you are going - DUH - that's GPS. So even if they did NOT know the area speed limit - the GPS always knows how fast you are or were going.
In Korea they track your AVERAGE speed through some areas. You can go fast - just don't come off the other end of their tracking area before you should. They know how long it takes you to get from A to B if you follow the limits and they flag you going into that span and coming out and if you got to B too quickly, you will receive a citation. The result - not too many accidents and not too many traffic deaths and people are so used to it, it's no big deal. It's a "so what" thing.
I have heard that some states may use the EZ Pass system to do this exact thing at some point.

Yep...in NJ they tried to do that with times entering and exiting the NJTP however its my understanding that was fought and the state lost so stopped doing it. Something about the highway authority does not monitor speeding, also speeding is supposed to be "observed" by an officer (I know those auto things can send you a ticket etc...I assume its the same as being observed by law enforcement.)

Cheese and rice!!! Thanks! I never knew that was there -
Don't feel bad. I assumed it was only on the Rubicon because I didn't see it right away. Read it on this forum and looked closer. Cool

While they are not tracking the enter and exit times, they do monitor speed through toll booths.

I got a notice the other day that said I went 35 through a 15 mph toll booth. First warning. You can lose pass privileges.

Big brother knows. Probably why some people do not get the EZPass.

I noticed a couple of Easter Eggs on my Nacho recently. On starting there is a small Gladiator that drives across the center of the cluster when the picture is morphing from a Willys MB to the current frontend. The front drive shaft also has the Jeep grill on it 0IIIIIII0

I just noticed that little "drive by" yesterday for the first time.

I tried this on my Sport S and it didn’t work, it would definitely be cool.
I think you have to have the Tazer Mini installed for this.

That's one thing we looked at going down the list, said we wanted it, talked about it, but in the end he never checked that box and we never caught the mistake or that being left out until too late. REALLY wanted that badly with this huge 5 pound, football sized key fob.
Add it yourself. With your skills it shouldn't be hard. Took me less than 45 minutes per door. Works great!

So I'm not the only one that does that?
Good to know!
Naaa, you're not the only one who read the Jeep manual from cover to cover. Was my reading material the first evening. My GF was making fun of me, complaining that I never read her instruction manual.

Hah.
Tell her she needs to write the damn manual first!
If she does, and publishes, she'll get rich!
