I love the Bolt lock I installed, I complained / suggested they need to supply a JT replacement grill at the time ( year ago), They do supply a JL grill, but the self trim job for JT per the instructions looks "pretty good". Work sgreat. Factory key. They may have started supplying a JT replacement center grill piece by now.

Is reason why you say that over the other for winter?
My winter is when the leaves fall off the trees and it occasional;ly rains. I do go up in the mountains where it is frigid and snow falls, so it is based upon what my Jeep experiences and what my research developed before I bought them.

What good would it do, when you're just as likely to be driving around with the top off and no doors?

I simply rely on the alarm system to deter thieves.
Trust me, the horns are REALLY LOUD when you're standing at the hood!

Kevin
I donā€™t believe the hood has an alarm/horn from factory???

I turned on the ā€œhood open horn when lockedā€ option with my Tazer, and agree itā€™s a great option.

Does it somehow use those vertical posts that you can move up and down? If so what is their intended purpose to begin with?

One is the hood open switch to the PCM, and I'm assuming the other goes to the BCM for the alarm.
I think...

Add another recommendation for the Bolt. Still only include the JL insert with the kit, but if you use sharp side cutters, looks great in my opinion.

Keep in mind that the Bolt system isn't compatible with the front Trail Camera.

The biggest problem for the Bolt is I don't believe it's compatible with Jeeps that have a front trail camera. I tried to ask Bolt directly, but they never answered. I'm looking into the Lasfit Stealth Anti-Theft Automatic hood lock instead. It looks more involved to install but it doesn't use rivets like the Bolt does. It also utilizes your Jeep FOB for unlock and lock functions & doesn't interfere with the front cam at all.
