Well I searched lots (LOTS) of Jscan posts, Seems too good to be true. Can someone give the best and worst uses for it. Don’t have any real complicated uses for a program tool, tires, LED’s, etc. Makes me a bit nervous messing with this 4WD Supercomputer!
I’ve already got the Bluetooth dongle, seems like a no brainer. Any down side ?
Thanks!

I've ran Jscan for years. Love it. Never had an issue. Tried a Taser and sent it back. Power steering would cut out. No power steering at speed with 40's is not a good thing. They acknowledged that it could happen and issued a refund when I explained that there is no way I would take another one.... I really want to try it again but... Ill probably just stick with Jscan. I just checked, I've had 6 licenses for jscan and not one issue.

I've used it for years with my JK and I have no complaints. I only use it to adjust my tire size and read codes. If I ever re-gear I'll use it for that as well.

I'll probably get a license for my JT as well since I already have the thing you have to plug in.

Jscan is not really a programing tool in that it modifies the source code software. It just enables/disables parameters already in the software.

Tazer will do most of what Jscan will do but it also will ride on the bus traffic and reinterpret and send out modified bus traffic messaging to perform features that are not in the base software.

Jscan is the safer of the two and less complicated if you have to take your vehicle in for servicing and needing vehicle module software updates.

Just make sure you follow its directions when it says to do things with engine off/key to run. I was excited, new toy, and when I made the changes for tire size and drop TPMS alarm from 32 to 28 I lost my speedo, cruise control, all kinds of CELs starting with a "U" letting me know I was having a disconnect at the computer.

It was ALL my fault and I just hit the factory restore button and all went back to normal, but just keep in mind when it says "do it this way" it means it. LOL!

I like it. I can literally see everything the Jeep has a sensor for but maybe doesn't show on my dash. One thing I really like is if I'm offroading and get into some slow going or get into or behind a slow group I can see my engine temp, coolant temp and intake temp and hit a button and turn the electric fan on for 2 minute bursts. I also can up my idle when using my winch. For $20.99 it under promises and over delivers which is rare today.

People Work?
I guess it depends upon your desired uses for it.
Much of what I see in the list of things it does is also in the list for ECRI.
ECRI is about $100.

How much is JSCAN? I can't seem to readily find a price on their site.

Jscan is like a $20 license fee and smart device software download. Then you have the cost of the bluetooth OBDII dongle and bypass cable. If you shop around for the dongle and cable, can squeak by for under a $100. Even cheaper if you already have a bluetooth OBDII dongle that is compatible.

I didn't think of that - I've been using JScan on my JK which only requires the $27 iCar ODBII plug in and not the dongle cable. So I got by a bit cheaper than the JL and JT.

The bypass cable is only like 12 bucks, so not too bad honestly. The pricing I posted above is from the JScan app if anyone needs it

Yeah, that’s my fear… screwing something up!
Can you leave the bypass cable connected without issue?
As most have said, seems hard to beat the value.

You really can't screw anything up that you can't put back to factory and then do it right. I no longer have a JT and went back to a JKU so I don't have to have the dongle but I have that little iCar doohickey that plugs into the OBDII and I unplug it when I shut down and get out.

I'm not 100% sure it's necessary for me to unplug it but when the engine is off there's a red, blue and green light and all three are on and periodically flash. I assume that takes juice but not sure how much and I don't want to get up to go to the office and have a dead battery.

I believe you’re supposed to plug the bypass cable back in when finished with your changes. Most people buy extension cables so they don’t have to constantly tear their hands up getting them out from under the dash.
