I've heard the premium twill top does well insulating, far better then the regular material. Probably be just fine to run year round honestly. Only down side being the rear defroster missing.

Well we have been in the 110's +/- here in Houston for what like 2 months now and I just recently move to my soft top finally. I have to say just my personal opinon but I find my jeep handling the heat better with the premium top than the hard top. Now in defense of the Hard Tops mine did not have anything like the hotheads liner which I am sure would help with the heat and sound. Mine was like an oven with the hard top on.

I know with the hardtop fully on and at highway speed (80 mph) the wind noise is pretty low. Now with the Bestop Sunrider at the same speed of 80mph there is a very noticeable increase in wind noise. But the convenience of opening the top in 6 seconds without having to store any freedom panels is a good trade off.

This is shocking to learn. I was dead set on ordering with HT and then buying an after market ST next spring. But now I'll consider the other way around
So far no plans of any aftermarket soft tops. If you are at all interested in a hard top go dual top. The hard tops are expensive on their own.

In the 2D wrangler they can be loud, I installed a soft top liner that cut the noise level to a point you can talk to your passenger without screaming at them

I have both tops. Soft top is not too bad.

I planned to order my Overland with the dual top option, but when the factory shut down in early April decided to shop existing dealer inventory. Found one very close to what I wanted but with hard top only. Purchased in April but pretty quickly decided removing/replacing the hardtop was too much work to be able to enjoy open-air driving. Ordered the premium twill Mopar soft-top from BAM, installed on July 1, and haven't regretted it for a single moment. To me it is not noisy at all, and so much easier than dealing with the hardtop.

I just have the regular soft top and don’t think it’s loud at all. I was shocked at just how quiet it really is.

I was 100% shopping JTs with the 3 pc hard top. But I recently installed a soft top on my wife's JLU. We were both really surprised at how quiet it is and how easy it is to use. I still like the look of the hardtop better on the JTs, but I'm definitely rethinking the soft top. We can literally throw the full sunrider portion of the top back while sitting at a red light. I'm really not sure when (if?) we'll put the hardtop back on- winters are mild here in the south.

I have a hardtop which I added the Bestop Sunrider on. I now know how loud it can get on the highway. I can live with it, but was wondering how loud the full soft top gets. Or is it the same amount of noise as the Bestop Sunrider.
I added the Bestop sunrider to my Gladiator and it was loud at first but now I fell is quieter than the hard top was. I imagine it has to do with the seals of the soft top sealing better with time and the fact that I got the twill version.

I also have the twill Bestop Sunrider, I think the feeling of “It’s getting quieter“ Is really you getting used to the sound. Kind of like a car air freshener, at first you smell it all the time, but once you get used to it you don’t smell it all. But new passengers will notice the smell instantly.

Like I said in the beginning, I love my Sunrider and use it almost everyday. I use it so much I was thinking I would get the whole soft top. I installed a hardtop lift but it still takes 15mins to go completely naked. Soft top would be 2 mins.

I have both and my soft top is the premium one. It's not much louder than the hard top, but the basic soft top is louder than the premium one (I had a JKU with both and the soft top was the basic material), but still not significantly.

wind noise. I just don’t notice it. It’s a non factor. ( premium soft top)

That said, at low speeds and at stop lights, ambient noise can be problem. It just doesn’t isolate you. One time I was stuck in traffic next to road construction, and that jackhammer was loud and clear. And I can here pedestrians casual conversations at stop lights. Big diesel trucks can be another bother at stop lights.

There are a lot of situations where there is some annoying noise in the environment, and you roll up you windows to Reduce it. But with the soft top, it just doesn’t reduce it much.
