I probably made a mistake - front grill

Hello everyone !

My ride is a 2021 Jeep Gladiator sport, with the max tow package in sting gray.

when ordering I forgot 1 or 2 things among the proximity keyless entry ans the front black grill.

So I found someone selling a brand new wrangler 4xe black and silver front grilland bought it for a reasonable price.

I started the install only to find out tha my grill is fully molded and the 4xe one is split in parts with the botton part removable. I was hoping to swap the bottom part but as is not possible, is there a place that sold those bottom parts already painted in sting gray?

anyone have other options to work with ?

My rubicon JT, so not a 4xE, has the same splits on the bottom of the trim. Maybe just a different part revision. What if you plasticoat the silver trim in black?

Aren’t the grill cutouts on the Gladiator slightly bigger than the Wrangler to help it cool better for towing? It might be worth looking in to because that would be an even bigger mistake.

So you have the single molded sport grille with the flat mesh inserts. Every JL/JT that is above the Sport models has a 4 piece grille; the grille itself, the 3 outer sections that snap in place, the inserts around the headlights and the deeper mesh inserts. I replaced my sport grille on my Jeep with the satin one and had to order each individual part because nothing on the sport grille is compatible. Also as mentioned, there are slight differences in the size of the JL and JT grille slots. Ultimately to make that grille work you would just need to order the three piece mesh inserts. Alternatively, you can install it as-is and get a patterned grille insert which slides in behind the grille face.

Edit: It looks like you’re also missing the middle section of the black grille trim in one of the photos.

The max tow slots are much wider. I prefer the wider slots so I wouldn't make the change personally.

It’s not just the Max Tow. All JTs have the same size grill openings, which are larger than JL openings.

Actually, I was surprised to learn last month that Max tow has even wider slots than other JTs. I checked and sure enough much wider due to extra cooling I believe. There is a thread on it as well.

The only post I can find saying it has wider grille slots is yours. The Sport with Max Tow package and the regular sport have the same part number for the grille

The standard sport grille (and the Willys) are single piece while the other models have multi-piece grilles with inserts and separate surrounds, so they are different. The bigger grille slots mentioned in that post are on all JTs.

Impossible. The Mack's Toe is more max tow-ier because of this.

Just plastidip the whole thing and be done with it. It’ll look good.
