For my 25 Rubi, question is what years will fit my rig? Will a steel bumper off a 22 wrangler work? I dont mind a used one just want to avoid a mistake.
Thank you!

All JL and JT bumpers fit. They haven't changed the frame horns/ mounts since 2018. In my opinion the Mopar bumper is massively over priced and not actually winch ready so you're out another $150-300 just to mount a winch. We do run it on the wife's JLUR, because it came on it so it was cheaper to add a winch than buy a new bumper. The JT came with a plastic bumper so I replaced it with an aftermarket bumper that is actually winch ready with the winch mount built in to it. Mopar is the only bumper I've ever seen advertised as winch ready... that isn't at all.

Most winch ready bumpers require a winch plate. Now sure what makes you think differently.

Aside from the Mopar and it's knock offs every winch bumper I've bought (several), installed, (dozens) or looked into buying (hundreds) over the last 4 decades are 1 piece with integrated winch plates. Only when Jeep started marketing winch ready, which isn't winch ready at all aside from the fact that the holes are cut for the winch and fairleaf, did you see anybody else call a bumper you couldn't bolt a winch directly to as "winch ready". Look at every popular bumper available for the JT/JL, aftermarket. None aside from the Mopar knock offs need a winch plate. Lod, JCR, AEV, cavfab, etc all are built with integrated winch plates. In my opinion the single piece welded design is stronger. It's certainly easier to install, and it's far more cost effective. My redrock4x4 bumper was $400 and came with led fogs, integrated winch plate, and even included shackles. Bolt it on, bolt winch to it, and go. And I've pulled hard enough to snap the 10k pound rated rope I was hooked up to. No deflection, no bending.

The Mopar takeoff bumpers regularly pop up for ~$200 around here. They definitely aren't worth the retail price, but they are a good bumper at takeoff price.

I went with a Mopar bumper because it was $100, and I don't like the angular look of most aftermarket bumpers, too close to angry grill for me.

Like I said, it's a decent bumper once you buy the necessary parts. It's still on our JLUR and that winch has been used hard too. The open tow hooks aren't great either and I definitely wouldn't trust them in a kinetic recovery. You can fix that with more aftermarket parts too, but at some point even if the base bumper was free it ends up costing more than a good aftermarket bumper that comes with recovery clevis mounts, winch integration, etc.

I’m not trying to argue, he out experiences have been different. I looked at countless bumpers before I decided on mine and the vast majority on the market today do not include a winch plate. I can only think of. Stew that I looked at which had one integrated. Moar have it has an optional accessory.

I'm always up to learn something. Got any links? Aside from Mopar and Mopar knock offs I literally can't find 1 with a separate winch plate? Granted most aftermarket companies don't use the misleading "winch ready" lie. It's either a winch bumper or it's not in my experience. Even metalcloak which sells a mislead bumper where you can add winch guards and end caps and all sorts of accessories the base is a winch bumper with integrated winch mount. https://metalcloak.com/jl-wrangler-frame-built-bumper-2500.html

Kinetic rope recovery?
Yes, I won't do a kinetic recovery with open hooks personally. The JLUR has a pintle ring in the receiver hitch for the kinetic rope specifically. The JT has shackles on the front bumper and a ring for the receiver so it can pull/be pulled from either direction. If the JL needs pulled from the front I'll use the winch.

I got the Mopar winch bumper on my '22 Rubicon, got a warn winch mount plate, takes a little manual persuasion, but keeps your mount, hooks and bumper still bolted right to the frame. I don't do any serious pulling on the front open j hooks either, especially not kinetic

I think I'm less than $300 all in with frame mounted shackle hangers and winch plate. I don't think I could even get a Rough Country bumper for that. The winch plate and recovery points don't cost a lot.

$300... plus the bumper. If you find a screaming deal and get it for $100 you're still even with what I paid for mine. I've installed both and I'd bet on my redrock4x4 bumper to be stronger than the Mopar version. Some people like the stock or mostly stock look. I care more about function and starting with the plastic bumper on my mojave Mopar was never even considered. And as far as cost, depends on where you get those items. Price up a Maximus plate, recovery points, and hoop and you're closer to $1k than $300. Do I dislike it enough to toss it and buy something else? No. Do I think there are plenty of better aftermarket options? Absolutely.

$300 including the bumper. The shackle mounts are like $50 max and you can get winch plates for $100ish. Looks like the redrock bumpers are only $289 though, you'd be hard pressed to get a Chinese Mopar bumper for that lol

I've used the front and rear hooks multiple times for kinetic rope recoveries. Even over a dune.
