So maybe this is well known the the Uconnect headunits (at least without premium alpine audio) 100% is limiting volume.

I’m guessing to protect components or limit draw from the head unit. This is why people are having weird volume issues.

One song may be nice and loud at 30(volume level) but then drop really quiet if there’s a note or frequency that pushes beyond the limit. Then the volume will just right back up when that frequency or note(s) are gone.

Additionally volume does increase past volume level 28, however, it’s quite limited and generally no effective as you’re already so close to this imposed limit by volume level 28.

Sucks real hard and I’m guessing a software or hardware fix is the only way via third party or a new head unit and amp. I highly doubt this will ever be patched.

Has this issue already been discussed and the problem identified?

I have a background in sound design which is why I’ve been trying to pay close attention.

Note: This is a repost from a message I put on FB. Figured I’d reach more people here.

What has this "figured out", exactly? Even my JK limited the bass and some midrange past a certain point to protect the components, as well as lawsuits for hearing damage.

It hasn’t found the solution but I feel many have wondered why their volume was doing weird things.

I think, this figured out why it’s doing the weird “seemingly inconsistent” volume behavior.

I’ve never had a vehicle that did this dramatic volume adjustment. I could easily blow the speakers in at least my last three 21st century cars.

Simple solution: don't turn the volume up to ear-bleed levels!
I've never had mine above 20, and that was only for a test!

Unfortunately YouTube has varying volume levels. My phones music and pandora don’t have those issues.

Exactly, if I want to listen to your music - I'll let you know!

If you're still looking for the answer, I think I might have found it. It fixed the exact same problem for me. Android limits Bluetooth volume, but you can turn it off in developer mode. Check this page out :

And FYI to all the people who responded to this thread with "you shouldn't need to listen to music that loud", if you aren't going to help the person asking for help, don't reply to their thread and just carry on.

I had that problem when my truck was new. I was using the steering wheel to haul my fat ass up into the driver's seat and I was hitting the buttons for the volume and channels, depending on which way the wheel was turned.🙄
