So I drove my JT for the first time in a serious snow storm. We got 20 inches. Anyways...I was driving to work and having a hard time seeing. Nothing was fogging up but ice was forming on the outside and my wipers were all blocked up with ice. I get the windshield is more vertical than most vehicles. I’m thinking RainX Winter fluid. But would certain wipers be any help? Any help from the northern/snow Jeepers! Thanks

They make heated wiper blades that you can purchase and install. I've never personally ran them but have heard great things about them.

Oh man, I was going to post a nearly identical situation. While driving the outside passenger lower corner, and the middle of the driver's wiper kept building up with ice. I kept having to pull over and clean the window and break the ice off the wipers. I'll be following this to see if anyone has any tips (besides not driving in the snow, haha)

What is the max size we can use for wipers? I’m finding heated ones 18-22 inches. Seems too long to me.

Are you saying this is different than other vehicles you have driven in ice storms? I've had ice on wipers often when driving a box truck for work.

Yes. This is the first Jeep I’ve ever owned and I don’t recall having this issue once my defroster is up and running.

The defroster may be the issue. It has been discussed extensively in several threads. Adding 5/8” square plugs to several of the vent openings will redistribute the heat to provide better defrosting. Available on Amazon, but I do not have a link. Check this post - https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/gladiator-and-defrost.36521/post-615072

Windshield icing no worse than some other vehicles I've driven. I've driven many since I first started driving at age 14 back in about 71.
Other TRUCKS, including my F250, I had to run the defrost on high, blower on high, and still wipers didn't always stay clear.
Many times I've gotten out of a Grand Cherokee and flipped the wipers to remove ice and scraped the edges of the glass.
This isn't the best, but isn't the worst or the first.

I put a good dose of RainX on the glass, run RainX wiper blades and RainX juice in the washer jug.

My wipers didn't ice up in the pic below - the good thing about these is the flat glass means the wipers are simple. Other wipers on CURVED windshield lose all flexibility when iced - these wipe flat glass, not as big a deal if they did freeze.
When they freeze with a really curved windshield glass, they no longer follow the curve of the glass and stop wiping.

This was mild compared to some vehicles I've driven - (and the wipers didn't ice up)

I have a new jt... but in the jku i have to keep the defrost on, keeping the heat on the windshield or ice developes, passenger side is worse. Also, use winter windshield washer solution, and i find the goodyear/rubber wipers work better.

They are actually Goodyear brand? Where do you get those?

I have also driven many vehicles new and old, Jeeps and others, through freezing rain and snow. I do not feel the Gladiator is much different/worse. If freezing rain is bad enough, I have had to stop and crunch ice off the wipers, and clear the sides of the windshield on all of them.

The wipers are the main culprit but the defrosters aren't the best either. I too was stuck in a crazy whiteout storm Wednesday night going home from work but I knew what to expect because I had a 18 JL plus its my own fault after spending like 4k mods and keeping stock wipers.

I get them at costco, best part is they are 8-9.00 +\-

the smallest size is usually 16” which the. Ool says is what the gladiator uses, also works on the jk wrangler even though 15” is spec’d
