I have had my hand smacked on another forum for using dealer names and address so this has been edited. Now read this and give me your honest opinion as to what to do or if you have had something similar happen to you...
We bought a preowned 2021 Jeep Mohave Gladiator with just over 50,000 miles. We have owned older jeeps CJ-7 and the older TJ. Recently were notified that a recall was sent out for the clutch in this model because it over heated and could cause fires due to clutch heating excessively. We took it to our local dealer in Richmond Va. and had recall done April 21, 2025. We went on vacation to get married in Corolla, NC May 10, 2025, and had never taken this jeep off road prior to this day. On May 12, 2025 we were on the beach loving life. I shifted into 4 low to try out the rear locker (New toy have to see what it does) for literally a minute - not in deep sand - when the jeep started showing "Clutch is hot push clutch fully in, Fully release clutch and reduce shifting" message. We immediately stopped driving and pulled to a safe place where we turned the jeep off. After giving it 10-15 minutes to cool down we proceeded to leave the beach with a "service transmission" message showing and now we are in limp mode. We took it to a local dealer in Kitty Hawk, NC where we were told that the clutch needed to be replaced (Having always had Jeeps with a clutch you can smell one that is burnt ummm NO SMELL) even though the new recalled clutch was install 3 weeks ago warranty work would not be honored because the diagnosis showed the code was given 3 times and therefore the warranty would not be honored, by the repair advisor and the manager . Upon calling the dealer that did the recall replacement , I was told by the service manager to call Jeep customer service. I called Jeep customer service to be told that the warranty would cover the issue but was told again by local dealer in Kitty Hawk , the repair would cost $2800 to repair and would take at least a week to get parts in. We came to NC to get married and take a very needed vacation. This literally devasted our vacation plans, since we now had to rent a vehicle and get this jeep towed to the Midlothian Jeep dealer where the work was done. The local Kitty Hawk dealer was happy to rent us a jeep for $199 a day to use while we were in NC. While we were at the dealership another customer was there with his Mohave MT had the clutch recall done as soon as he pulled out of the dealer his "service transmission".
Now we ended up having the jeep towed back. They found a Fuse Array blown and had to replace it before they could even get it into the shop. That being done they call and said they found NO ISSUE with the transmission drove it for 25 miles to see what if anything came in on the display.
So we went from you need a new clutch at the 1st dealer to a blown fuse array at the 2nd. 2800$ for a clutch and a 200$ Fuse Array replacement at the second dealer (My local dealer)
So here is my questions to you folks
Anybody else had any issues with a MT in the sand?
Clutch issues like this after the recall replacement?
Should I sell this and tell Jeep to pound sand?
