We were blessed to have been on those trails before the monsoon they received. We had to head south to leave out of Silverton.

I live 232 miles south of Ouray (Northern New Mexico). We got 5 inches of rain in just a few days. That's a lot of rain for the mountain west. Flood waters appear very quickly with little to no warning.

I was born in Durango...didn't hear of the floods in Ouray! Very familiar with the country, so sorry to see the devastation (we had ours last year in Ruidoso!)

Theres a video from a family who was on the 2cnd floor of their home as the floods came through, and I believe this Jeep was theirs. Their home was a total loss.

Guess I should have looked at the picture a bit closer before commenting. I didn’t open the link because I don’t book my face. Looking closer yeah that’s from being in a flood wash. No tracks going in. Scariest thing to be in out in the desert. Only happened to me once and I ran the LJ hard for higher ground.

Wow, “No Way Ou-ray Jose”! Yes; fire, burn scars, monsoon rains all make for a back country adventure. Hope they were able to get out ok and safely. Now where did my winch go…..?
