Hey Gang,

Attempting to remove the inner fender liner (and those 1/2” round flat black clips) 🙄 Along with …trying to remove the side vent (to install Iights).
This is a 2024 Mojave…so we don’t like to be ‘rammy’ or tear shit apart. We don’t want any damage to the jeep in the process.
Those clips are proving to be a pain in my ass!!

Inner Fender: We already have those plastic orange prying tools - and attempted to use them…. These clips (on 2024) are cheap and thin. The head of the clip ‘bends’ using those orange tools. I ended up breaking off the top part of one of them (head) from the post part.
Shit, do I really need to buy a special tool? See photo - is that what I need? I might as well buy the clips too since I broke one - and I’ll probably break more. 👀 Even with a special tool, I’ll probably still break these things. Has anyone bought these clips? Searching Amazon…. There‘s different sizes.

The Fender Vent: We were able to pry most of it off but there’s two more clips nearest where the fender is…. again, we’re afraid to just muscle it and cause damage. Thoughts?

Looks like I gotta put the 10mm bolts back in …and get the jeep put back together (So its drivable). Order some parts…and try again next weekend.

Thanks for any tips!
Did I mention..I hate clips???!!

Yes, clips are a PITA......definitely worth spending the more for the right tools

No help in the vents but on the inner fender you will break some of the plastic clips they are thin Amazon has them just note you will probably find a couple different sizes in different locations and you will also have to remove the 3 plastic rivets on the backside of the tire at the bottom closest to the door that hold the liner to the fender so you need plastic rivets and rivet gun, unless you plan on pulling the fender but then you will need some of those clips which will break also

Definitely have to remove and replace the 3 POM rivets if removed just the liner. I short term used 3 of the "Christmas tree" ones. Good choice on stop before screwing up. I was I've got to replace this $%#@%@# battery in parking lot after vehicle shutdown while driving on hwy and then throwing its self in park.

Gotta try to clean up language spending time around 3 toddlers. ;)

I’m on the fence of which direction to go…. Might just try (again) to take the entire fender off (white clips). It’s not gonna be easy and more clips to break.
All the videos I’ve watched show how ‘easy’ it is to take the fenders off….🙄 HA!!
First time’s always the hardest…..
Wiring the lights & taking the vent out will be easier if we drop the while fender.

Still have some research to do…. Talked with someone on the phone (THANK YOU! YOu know who you are 😉) to look for a T harnass for DRL & blinkers.

You will absolutely break a shit-ton of the white clips holding the fender on. Just yank it off and replace them as needed.

As mentioned just order more off amazon.

If you go the take off the whole fender route, then you wont have to deal with the plastic rivets along the outside edge. Start at the bottom toward the rear and give them a good tug. You won't break anything besides some clips pulling on the fender. It will sound horrible like you are destroying something, but most of the noise is just the clips pulling out. First time I did it I broke 3 clips. Have some towels around to lay the fender on after you pull it. Some of the white plastic clips will break, others will just fall off or remain in the body or fender. Make sure you have spares, I keep plenty of spare clips in case I tear off a fender on an obstacle. IIRC, there are 11 clips on each front fender.

Toughest part will be the connector for the turnsignals and parking lights. It's a PITA. If I recall, you have to push/maybe pull a red tab, push the connector in (not intuitive) and squeeze the connector hard (there is another tab not real obvious) and pull and it should drop right out. It might take a few tries but you'll get it. Best of luck.

It's easier to just pull the whole fender vs. the liner. You will break many of those white clips. I did anyway, but I've owned my JT since July 2019, so my clips are over 5 years old. On 2020s there's only one electrical connector (slide the red lock and push the tab to release). Here are the clips I used and they are an exact match: https://a.co/d/aub2Ty2

If you take the liner out, can't you just use a pair of needle nose pliers and squeeze the backside of those fender connectors?

Some of them. But you'll still break them. Just yank em out and get new clips if you need to.

Are you removing the fender liners so you can install the vent lights? Or you just happen to be doing both? If you are just installing the vent lights, removing the fender liner is not necessary at all. You can easily fish the wire behind the liner without removing it.

You don't need to take the liner completely out, just partially out and peel it back.
Lay down on the floor and reach up and squeeze the other side of the white clips..... It's better if you have a buddy on the outside pulling the fender back a bit while you work on the backside of the clips.

We only broke 1 white clip and it was at the very end/bottom.
