My winch came today and I thought let’s measure the fender install it and see what sag I have. Only took a couple minutes to install probably some kind of record! Zero sag! Not a 1/4” nada………Jack

I do have to gives Kudos to “Truck and Gear” out of NC, I ordered this winch on the 9th and have it by 2:00 on the 11th and installed by 2:30. Was a little worried buying it , price was great, but shipping in like 43 hours, who does that anymore, there is hope for America to be great again!……Jack

Parts are trickling in, thanks to some other pioneers, I found out a lot of plates won’t work with plastic bumper, cancelled my Warn plate ,looked around and came up with a very nice plate from LOD, does not stick out past frame attachment points, also picked up their front mount flange frame brace which strengthens the two flat attachment plates on frame, also picked up their power coated fairlead mount which will work perfect with my small bolt pattern winch, picked up two different sizes of spacer plates from a member here (svc707) 1/4” and 3/8” (Steve does really nice work), and am planing on installing a 1/4” angle across front between frames and tie to fairlead plate. My hope is to not cut the top of the bumper, and rotate the clutch lever towards grill so it is concealed also, topping off with a basic Factor 55 flat link in dark grey. Only little thing is the Warn fairlead for smal winch is polished aluminum instead of a black or dark grey, and the slot is much smaller as winch is about 16” wide compared to most at 20-22”, but it is real nice. LOD has been great to work with and winch plates are made to order so perhaps another two or three weeks before I jump in.
Their winch plate is for their bumpers, but looks real nice. The winch weighs 54 pounds with everything, I am trying to stay as light as possible without sacrificing strength, and am going to weigh everything including the plastic bumper and parts I cut or take off that bumper, my goal is to be under 100 pounds as much as possible.
So far winch and all parts and cable, fairlead plate and bumper reinforcements and the 20lbs. for LOD plate I am at 83 pounds. So spacers if needed, the 1/4” angle across front if need , I am close. Actually looking forward to this, love fabricating and tinkering…..Jack

Glad your winch went on in record time. I really dig the brown winch cover.

Been trying to install a wench on my dash....but, she doesn't clear my windscreen. Need a shorter wench..

In the current location the trail cam appears to be blocked.

Yeah, but that custom cover will keep the UV off the rope.
I'd be concerned about cooling. I guess there's enough space there.

Could add some holes to improve air flow and aerodynamics, but don't want to risk integrity of the winch line. Perhaps adding some racing stripes or flames to make it go faster.....

All seriousness aside (somehow that doesn't sound quite right) I am interested in seeing how this works out.

Did somebody say Wench?
1655945156144.webp
I wonder how fast Jaxmax can say wicked wench 5 times in a row.

This reminds me of my daughter-in-law. Her English is pretty good, but to hear her pronounce certain words like this - even my son laughs at her now and then. Luckily she sees the humor in it when we point it out. Some languages just don't do well at pronouncing certain letters of the English alphabet. To hear her talk about taking their son to the zoo - the z comes out j
R just doesn't roll out of her mouth well.
I would guess that winch, wrench and wench would all sound about the same.

Spent many years overseas.

One location, there is no "F" in their dialect.

Closest thing they had was a "P" for my name tag.

So for three years, to simplify communications with the indigenous peoples, my name was changed.

I still have the name tags.
