What the start of this thread on insurance companies ripping off customers is the experience I got from Geico back in 90s I changed to State Farm cut my insurance to not even 50% the cost with lower deductible and higher coverage. Then went to USAA due to State Farm wouldn't cover my Jeep in Germany. So I've been with USAA for over 26 years, it was a simple to deal with for many years, auto payment no lapse of coverage, change or add vehicle's no problems. It helped being deployed back to back 98-02.
June I started checking, State Farm and Geico; would be the lowest cost State Farm in middle but better coverage for many parts plus glass replacement. USAA seem to changes quarterly coverage and rates, crapshow dealing with after LJ got stripped years ago. Hmm, no tickets no accidents, no claims in over 10 years so I rate higher cost !!! Damn Huntsville, AL. driving!
I had all my insurance though USAA then they wouldn't cover my RV due to full-timing in it then wouldn't cover my boat. As soon as my current insurance is about to end I'm probably going with State Farm insurance.

Had a bad experience with SF years ago (at fault driver had them and they came after me anyway). Nothing more than an organized crime outfit in my opinion.

The Progressive plug-in thing showed I drive slower than a granny and they asked me to send it back early, gave the maximum discount. It didn't register normal ramp acceleration as too much.
I was mad because I bought the fast little hyundai hot hatch thing.

I went to the online profile for bluelink which is how you can like remote start it etc with your phone and found out there was an automatic setting checked that "shares your driving information with insurance companies to give you offers for discounted insurance".

Give me a car with a dual clutch, tight suspension, a button to overboost the turbo and then go and share how I drive it with insurance companies lol. I don't drive like a granny.

I've never had a poor experience with car insurance from any of the one's I've had.

When I rear-ended a guy once (collisions happen. '80s Jetta with crappy tail lights in afternoon sun), I got a call a few months later from my insurance. They asked about the accident, and I told them, "about 10mph, no injuries, the guy I hit refused medical attention 3 times, we drove off."

Insurance: "They refused medical attention?"
Me: "Yes, the cop asked, the fire fighters asked and the EMTs asked."
Insurance: "Ok, thank you."

I inquired why they were calling months later and they said I was being sued for $50k for the accident. I laughed.

Years later my wife and I were rear-ended. The woman in front of me slammed on her brakes in the middle of the road (she claimed she thought she was driving a manual, not an automatic), I stopped, but the Charger behind me didn't, and hit us into her. I had my Sportage for 3 months when it happened. My wife got horrible whiplash and we settled 2 or 3 years later for $150k.

And the woman who caused all this DIDN'T EVEN GET A TICKET! Car wasn't hers, she had no insurance, the owner had no valid insurance on the car... My repair bill was just shy of $11,000.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I wouldn't argue with you there I knew a few people who worked at S.F. head office that wouldn't have their insurance and had Allstate that was HQ across the street from them in Bloomington IL.

F150 has a lot of aluminum, which is more money to replace when damaged.
I had a 2017 F-150. Some moron from a landscaping company was using a weed whacker without the guard and it kicked a rock into my door as I was driving by. Got an estimate and it was over $800.

I have State Farm.. with my new Mojave this makes vehicle #4 under SF. 2 out of 4 (1 being the Mojave) are listed under a commercial policy for my business. The other 2 Vehicles are listed under pleasure vehicles. I used to pay monthly where State Farm charged my credit card... But I just said screw it and had them bill be once every 6 month renewal and paid 1 time for 6 months for each vehicle. You gotta pay anyways just get out of the way and forget about it. Or have State Farm auto debit from your bank or credit card monthly .. ? You won't need to remember and it's automatic.

Plus the benefits of me charging all 4 policies on my AMEX cash back business card gets me a nice chunk of cash back rewards to apply to the next months bill.

Been with StateFarm for 32 years. Looked at others but coverage was not tit for tat for the lower prices.
Wifes 08 JK 6 year old Sahara was totaled by an old man in a Prius. Ordered from the factory for 25K. State Farm paid 26.5k. $1500 appreciation for a 6 year old Jeep!
