I could be wrong here but the knock down in-theater field assembly kits were dramatically less in numbers than the knock down kits that were sent to factories in the UK and AUS for reassembly. It could be put together in under 15 or 30 minutes (I can't remember).
That being said up until the late 1990's or so you could buy an entire Willys MB or CJ5 minus the motor and frame from the JC Whitney catalog and have it shipped to you along with your Blinky the Cat third brake light. IIRC Omix still makes/sells them.
