I plan to use the Gladiator as my daily. Yearly I’ll see mileage hit around 25-30K. Mostly highway (throughout Michigan and Ohio Valley.

And . . . for retiree's like me, it will be the ONLY ride available . . . but the most fun will be taking it "to the dirt" ! The "dirt" for me means the Logging roads/forest service roads on BLM or State Parks or other Federal (Public) lands, where the View hasn't been "messed with" yet ! My passions being the Journey to these places, but more so, what I do when their . . . Camping and exploring and Fly Fishing + some photograph/video taking - strictly amateur ! So far my WK2 has gotten the job done, but it pains me (psychologically) to get it scratched or dinged or super dirty/muddy . . . and I can't clean it for 4 or 5 days . . . ugh ! Where's my 'Shrink' when I need IT ! 'IT' being the 5th of Irish Whiskey, ha !Let me tell you everything you need to know about commuting in the JT. BTW you already know this stuff. It will not be the most fuel efficient option you could pick. It will not be the most comfortable option you could pick. It may be the most fun option you could pick depending on how you define fun driving.![]()
I drive 44 miles each way to work with about 35 of those miles being on the interstate. My JT replaced my Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road. I have zero issues or concerns commuting in my Gladiator. I do have ACC (adaptive cruise control) and it makes the interstate drive more relaxing for me, especially on the way home. Occasionally I drive my lifted JL on 35s and I can honestly say there is a big difference in the drive of the JT vs the JL. The longer wheelbase and slightly wider axles of the JT really makes a big difference. So looks like i might get a new job (great!) but i will be driving 35-40 miles each way so 75-80 miles each day.
So I also am a pretty die-hard motorcyclist and I ride whenever I can but I would still be 2-3 days a week commuting in the JT.
Am I the only one facing a drive like this?
Any thoughts?
