Hey all. I’m looking at some rock sliders, they weight approximately 100 pounds per slider. Is this considered too heavy for gladiator sliders?

Not exactly sure what you're asking......

The weight depends on how they're designed and how 'heavy duty' they actually are.

Weight is irrelevant if you're looking for protection.

I guess what I’m asking is if 200 pounds is unusually heavy for a set of sliders. Like what is the typical weight for set of gladiator sliders that people are using.

Depends who makes them and how they are mounted. My White Knuckle weight about 80 lbs per side. They offer a thicker DOM tubing which adds more weight. The White Knuckle are frame mounted.

How much do the Rubicon sliders weigh? I don’t think they’re anywhere near that heavy and they work great.
Maybe keep an eye out in the classified section here as people do sell them occasionally.

I'm curious what sliders you're referring to... that are 100lbs each side? Got any photos or links?

I had to email them to get the weight numbers. Im either going with these or the Mopar Performance Sliders. I love the flat beam style sliders. However im worried the Mopar Enhanced Sliders might not be wide enough to block door dings. I have to park next to people at my apartment complex and it always makes me nervous.

My Rock Hards are a lot lighter than 200 lb. I guess around 120 lb for the pair.

Where is this company located? The site comes up in another language…..

Are you sure the weight they gave you wasn’t in metric (or something else)?

If you’re located in the U.S……. And that company is outside the U.S. ……
There are sooo many different types of rock sliders available here in the U.S…and can be found much cheaper (and avoid logistics of ordering & receiving items thru customs).

The sliders don’t line up very nicely with the fenders. It appears the sliders do provide protect all the way to the frame, lots of metal. Body mounted. The cross border experience might be simple or it might be a mess. I’m in Canada and bring things from the US on occasion but I try to avoid it as the rules are a mess. Not sure how it works going the opposite direction!

@AustyPosty Yes, FrogFab is located in Montreal. They do make quality stuff and I have their shackle mount plates on my gladiator (BEEFY):

However, I do agree with what others have said in as much as there are lighter and just as reliable sliders available here in the states that won't get held up in customs.

I have these on my Gladiator and one of my Wranglers:

Whatever you finally decide on, just please make sure that they are frame mounted. Here's why (my other Wrangler):

These are Ace Sliders and. like many other sliders, they mount to the body bolts which actually allows them to flex against the rubber body bushings. I came down hard on this slider, it flexed upwards because of the bushings and actually bent the tub; notice the buckle under the front door and the lack of door gap...

Cheers.

I think I’ve decided I’m going to pick up some Mopar Performance rock sliders. There’s a guy selling a brand new set for 500 bucks. I know they aren’t the beefiest, however I’m going to eventually reinforce them myself. I plan on welding on additional brackets that tie it into the body mount bolt, like the rock hard 4x4 sliders and maybe reinforce the existing brackets too. I like the rock hards a lot however the flat step is a little pricey for me at the moment and I worry the angle up/down tube step wouldn’t be good for my kids.

The other reason to go with frame mounted is when mounting to the body, theres a very good chance you may break a body mount bolt trying to remove it There are a lot of posts on here dealing with that problem. They are super tight and very problematic when trying to remove and turn a 2 hour project into a 2 day nightmare.

I can say for sure that for a pinch seam mounted slider (keep in mine this is not the best as a true slider) the mopar HD sliders work great. And they will definitely stop door dings. I dont consider them a real step unless you’re lighton your feet and nimble but for what it sounds like your goals are, they are a great option

Edit: theres not much of a way to modified them to body mount attachment and I am not a believer in that strategy ive seen that cause a lot of issues.

If you want something thats bomb proof and has a similar look and step worthiness, id suggest saving coins a bit longer and getting the SAVVY slider. A bit of grip tape below the doors and you can learn to sort of walk up and down them in a day, even kids

This was my last trip with the mopar ones. I gave them away else id offer them to you
