Is a 3” lift with 37’s going to be too much for stock Overland?

Really, everyone is right. If you wanted to you could absolutely build an overland to be strong as garlic. But, it gets harder at a point to stuff $4500 d44’s or $7k d60’s underneath. And then you really will be thinking about $2k in driveshafts, $3k in labor, etc etc. also, with a setup like that my guess is it would take builder parts to do the lift.

If you care about gas mileage the 37's on 3.73 gears is going to suck, and your going to lose 7th and 8th gear for the most part. A local guys running 37's with a 2.5" lift on his sport with 3.73 gears and he's barely getting 14mpgs. You can run it but it's going to be a dog on the highway and hills.

For reference I'm in the Piedmontl
/Foothill section of North Carolina so we got moderate rolling hills but nothing major. I get right at 19mpgs on my Max Tow with 4.10 gears and 35's.

I have to agree. Any change impacts towing - lift, tire size, etc. Tire size changes the WEIGHT of the truck, and the weight the engine has to spin up to get moving. Science - inertia, some dudes back a few hundred years ago came up with these stupid laws of physics.
I'd not even think about towing with 35s on mine - I'll be towing just under 5,000 pounds eventually and my trailer empty pretty much meant I didn't see 7th or 8th and if I did, for a few seconds only.
There's a big reason the best tow packages have lower gear ratios. Even my Silverado the tow specs, ALL ELSE EXACTLY THE SAME changed with only a gear change. Two identical trucks, one with lower gears, had better payload and towing specs than the one with higher gears (like mine had - and my silverado constantly hunted gears on our interstates here)
I'd not mind 35's for looks but I'm not about go give up towing capabilities.
