One of life's great times for me is when two of my recorded off springs were on their phones checking out travel location(s). They were getting slightly mixed messages from their phones.
They assured me (each of them separately ) they had to correct or better data etc.

When I pulled over & stopped they asked why.
WE'RE HERE NOW

Then they discussed on the other was less accurate .

I suppose it's hard to get a 2022 update when the year isn't even half over.
Already updated to my second 2022 update for my Zumo on my motorcycle...

My previous several vehicles have had stock NAV but the JT does not and I don't miss it. If I were traveling in areas where I couldn't use WAZE then that would be different. At least in my area I didn't find much value in car NAV updates. I found that sometimes I would pay for the update and it still didn't have new roads in our region. I have an old Garmin with lifetime free updates, and those updates were better. I don't know why the car companies can't do it as well as that since they're charging money.

Now I love how WAZE on my phone connects seamlessly with the Jeep's 7" screen, and it's SO much better than any stock NAV that I've ever had, including in my Infiniti which was the best of those previous ones. I stopped using the stock NAV when I finally understood how much better WAZE is in every way (as long as it can connect). Getting around all those traffic jams is priceless.
I used Waze a fair amount its pretty good but it too suffers from insane routing syndrome occasionally. Also, sometimes it plans a much more complex route through neighborhoods etc just to save a minute or two. None are perfect. I try to keep maps handy.

As someone who recently upgraded to a flip phone, I was forced to go looking for a GPS to compensate for my Apple Maps... The Garmin Drivesmart 55 is a great solution and even includes Live Traffic (and free updates).

The screen is also nice and modern.

Just a side note on those "free updates" on Garmin units; they usually require the unit to be connected to the mother ship via a PC at least once a year and sometimes more (quarterly for one unit I had some time ago). If you miss connecting in the prescribed time frame the free updates are no longer free. Not a huge deal, just something to look for in the fine print so you're not surprised later.

Is that a recent change of their service terms? I have a couple of Garmin GPS units that I may go almost 1.5 to 2 years or so before hooking up for an update.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR JEEP ON THE DALTON, the calcium chloride will damage all of the finishes on the vehicle and it actually never comes completely off.
So you are saying do not drive your Jeep in Iowa. That's one of the chemicals very commonly used here. They spray all bridges and overpasses if there's a threat of frost or freezing weather at night. It's laid on so thick in town you splash it as you drive through it, literally like after a rain.
That stuff is what we deal with October through early April every year. It gets on the hood and windshield, kicked up by passing traffic. Our vehicles are white when we get home.

Years ago i paid for "life-time updates" from Garmin. Mine is an older unit, so old I've had to replace batteries at least one time. I don't connect every year, and still get the updates. I have to do it via a PC and the USB cable but that's fine. I don't often use it but my old cars don't have NAV so use it in them.

In my experience it was a condition on the last two units I owned. The most recent one I got in late 2017 or early 2018. But they change their terms regularly it seems (as it was not so on 2 other units I’ve owned). I mentioned it just so those who have them check so the don’t miss out on the free updates.
