Is this normal on a Mojave X -- high pitch whine noise?

25 Mojave X and I notice a high pitch whine noise that i suspect is coming from the shock reservoirs lines.

I notice the sound when it is being moved in or out of garage slow rolling speed.

Anyone else have an opinion on it?

These JTs have done that since 2020 model year when in reverse with an automatic. Some are worse than others. It's almost as if it is coming from the speakers or something electronic. It's never caused an issue, other than to have my wife ask if there was a ghost or something in my first one.

I hear it if im outside of the vehicle in tire wheel well area. Stops when not rolling, present in forward or reverse during start ups. I will try and get a video uploaded. I assumed it was hydraulic reservoir but perhaps it could be alternator or power steering.

I don't know if its what you are referring to, but the forward gears in the transmission are helical, and the reverse gears are spurs, so that makes a funny noise as well.

That's only manuals.

I suspect they are talking automatic - especially the Mojave X owning OP.

All gears in an automatic are the same type (planetary) - reverse doesn't' use any different gear types than the forward gears.

I have the same whine when reversing in my 2021 Mojave. It seems to come from the rear diff.

Must be my selective hearing, because all my cars used to make those same sounds. But after a decade or so, there’s still sounds but I just cant make out the words anymore.
