I had replaced the controller about 9 months ago and I started having the same issues again. It's always the left side. Not sure why. I called them and got a new controller again. Hoping this will be it for a while.

Reviving thread. My steps have been going up and down intermittently like they have a mind of their own. I would open drivers door, and I can hear the one on the passenger said move. Sometimes they go up and down, sometimes they don't. Now passenger side won't even move and driver side is stuck down.

I called RSE and they said it was probably the controller so I ordered a new one. Hoping that's all it is.
Figured out the steps, the wire that connects to the switch on dash had wiggled off.

One thing I made sure of when installing mine was - fill the connector cavities with silicone dielectric grease.
I tried to do what Jeep did with the wiring - secured twice as well as what should be good enough. If they said strap here and there, I added several extras.
I keep things lubed up with the silicone spray like the book suggests. I added extra shielding on the wiring in some spots.
So far, they have been flawless on both of our Jeeps - they've been on for just shy of a year now.
Like already said - if all companies handled their support like RSE does, complaints seen on the internet about products would drop by 2/3.
