We've got fat tire folding ebikes - bought last fall. 750 watts motor with regen capability gives us sustained 28 mph with no pedaling and 50ish miles range. They actually advertise more range but reality is around 50. We couldn't be happier. We went with Rattan http://rattanebike.com for around $1,200 each. Just fold 'em up and put 'em in the back - no rack needed.

More than once somebody on a $4,000+ ebike has asked us where we got ours, and were visibly shaken when we tell them how much we paid, lol. It happened when we were riding in Carolina Beach just last week.

“Before you know it, your buying a new fork $900.
New Brakes $300
New rear shock $500
Possibly new drivetrain: going cheap on a decent drivetrain $500”…
It sounds like a Jeep:
New Tires, wheels, winch, bumpers, suspension…
It even comes with potential for 'Death Wobble'
It's a Jeep.

I followed the link, looked at all the pics, watched the video. Im not against e-bikes, but Im totally not for an overpriced, bottom-end e-bikes. Some of my riding buddies have bought e-mt bikes recently and for sure, they cost a lot, but they are paying little more than that one cost with the benefit of very high quality components.
I too am not against e-bikes. They have their place for some riders, But when I see a pack of young guns riding around areas around here like Daley Ranch or Greer on ebikes because they don’t like to climb…..

Man up young guns and earn your downhill like this old man.

Im old, Ive been mt biking since the mid ‘90’s,
Wow, now I'm starting to feel old. My first mountain bike was a 1984 Panasonic "All Terrain Bike".
After having full rigid bikes, I bit the bullet in 1994 and got a Ted Wojcik Soft-Trac Dual Suspension. A bad wreck in 2017 broke the frame, but Ted said he'd fix it for me. That bike still hangs on the wall in my shed. Now I ride a 2017 Stumpy FSR Comp 6 Fattie and a 2021 Kona Woo.

Oh boy, in ‘84 I was still in high school, riding a 10 spd Nakamichi road bike. Man, my weekends were filled with chores, lawn mowing, whatever work my neighbors wanted for over a summer to pay for that. If I recall correctly it was about $140.00
Thanks for making me feel young(er)! ?

My feelings as well. Last time I was at Greer there were a couple older (much older than me) riders on e-bikes doing laps, props to them, they looked to be in their mid-60’s.
I havent swung a leg over an e-bike yet and hope I dont need to until my knees cant take it anymore.

Sounds like we’re all close in age. Graduated in 87. I put 40+ miles 5 days a week on my bikes(suspended DL) and 25+ off road on days off work. Not to mention some off-road rides on work days. Really missed it over the years but now, 20 years since I’ve owned a bike, I’m seriously considering an Ebike. Still have one child left to send off and then it’s back to doing for me?
