Jeep or Gladiator….. On The Tailgate

Hi and thank you for your help. I am very new to the Jeep Gladiator. Why do some tailgates say jeep and other ones say gladiator? Thanks.

So……..(with me being a newbie to the gladiator)….. I was under the impression that the letters are raised metal. So what you are saying is all gladiators come with “”Jeep”” on the tailgate and they are stickers only? And you can purchase the gladiator letters online? Thanks again.

That is correct.. Youtube has many videos on the subject. Be aware that the jeep emblem has mounting holes under it that has to be covered when installing Gladiator emblems

Park the tailgate facing the sun, let the sun do the work for you all day to soften the adhesive. Use dental floss to remove each letter (slide between letter and tailgate metal and work back and forth like a mini saw working from one end of the letter to the other). I prefer to use WD40 and a nonabrasive rag like microfiber (not paper towels or napkins) to remove the residue. I find WD40 removes goo and adhesive better than any of the product specifically designed for that task

Personally I prefer GladiatoR on the tailgate... but i'm also extremely aware of my high level to criticism of my own work and don't feel like going through all the hullabaloo involved in taping, leveling, taping again, measuring, measuring, doubting the kerning, measuring, attempting, being disgusted, measuring, measuring, redoing, only to get tired and just say fuck it who cares and then do in a such a way where no one will ever notice something is off... bit I know it is and it eats away at my soul.

I have not done it yet. Myonly concern would be how long the lettering will last (material durability) and if it will look like crap in 5 years and have to be redone.

I am OK with applying lettering in general, though my OCD with the hood 3M vinyl lettering left me taking 35 minutes per hood side! A tailgate could take me hours to apply!

LOL I remember how much effort went into me putting a 2020 Scat Pack spoiler emblem on 2019 Challenger. I am a tough customer to please, and I always think it could of been a little bit better !!!!!
