Appreciate all the replies guys. Not knowing much about the etiquette, I figured it would be best to get the blessing first lol.
As a 25 year many times deployed vet I appreciate the ask and I would say you’re good to go. There have been far too many “expressions” of individuals that vets have overwhelming objections to in society that those who do them don’t GAF that veterans think.
So I appreciate you asking. You were raised right.

Oh man! This is what I was looking to do! Currently looking for steel window replacement plates with only a small groove to see out of. Haha.

I kid I kid. I thank its was great of you to post this question before you put the decal on. What a great way to show the vets on here a great amount of respect. Your a stand up dude in my book.

Thank you vets for everything that you have done:clap::clap::clap:

As a "Army Vet" I could care less.. Desert Storm, ECT, The star on a vehicle means nothing of "Vet" it's more of reference to Jeep linage to WW2... IMHO.
Now what is seeing clowns that have "truck nuts" hanging on vehicle or leave gas cap door open.. But that has some good info on the owner / driver.... Watch out they are a jackass and is going to do something stupid. ;)

Army Vet. You're good. Rock on and make it yours.
Just dont lower it or you'll kill a kitten.
Otherwise, rock on.

Like other said. Dont need to be a vet

It is nice to see someone ask. I've enlisted twice, Army Reserve in '88, and regular Army in '11. Spent my 41st birthday on Sand Hill at Benning. (Infantry probably wasn't the best idea at 40.) Service related injury kept me from serving, so I've never considered myself a vet. I'm proud of trying and wish I could go back. Still, I question things like that for myself. I have my last name and US Army velcro on a key chain. My wife keeps saying i should hang my dog tags from my mirror. I'm leery of doing things like that. Don't want to seem to be more than I was. So the point of my getting long winded post is to say thanks for double checking!

Not a good idea to hang ID tags in open... SSN, name and vehicle tag = can find your address, identity theft or other bad things can happen. Not that can't happen anyway but would make it easier. Opsec.

I don't think anyone "owns" that star any more than anyone "owns" the stars and stripes. It's a symbol, for sure, but not one that's specific to any particular branch or unit, etc., so I don't see any issues. I'd love to see more Jeeps with them, honestly... a little American pride is a good thing.

I agree as a retired vet I do t see the star as just our thing it’s to give respect to the Jeep and it’s contribution to the Country.
Show it off proudly and post a pic!!

Interesting choice of words. My dad, who was a vet and and has since passed, was a big Jeep guy and his vanity license plate was GOFORIT. An older brother still has the tag hanging in his garage.

Absolutely fantastic point I hadn't considered. Thanks for that.

And that would be more Persec than Opsec. :CWL:

I’m terribly sorry for your loss. But I think that plate is AWESOME!

I did put invasion stars on my JKU and named it Eve of Destruction after the 5 ton gun truck. I also put stars on my 1980 CJ5. I did ask ex-military friends and family before I put them on.
