Jeep wave-back question

I started waving at other jeeps when i got my gladiator and there are a lot of jeeps in my area. I work on an army base and see many every day. I noticed something. The vast majority of the wave-backs are from men. I had one, yes, one woman wave back and she sort of saw me wave, panicked, and then waved furiously. I asked my wife why only guys are waving back and she just laughed at me. That isn't an answer! Has anyone else noticed this? Also, i am not trying to be sexist in any way. This is a real thing I've noticed and yes I know that my sample population is only over a couple weeks duration and I'm not accounting for a ton of variables, but I've got to be approaching 100 waves by now.

I get waved all the time by wranglers and of course I wave back. I bet they just can't tell it's a gladiator when looking straight on. Honestly, if I wave and get a wave back, it doesn't matter if it's a wrangler or gladiator the satisfaction is all that matters.

Funny, I mentioned this to my wife the other day, that women don't wave, she said she does but I'm skeptical. I'v noticed that people in white jeeps don't wave either, maybe because they are postal workers...

That is what I've noticed, when approaching from head on, you can't see the bed till almost right on you.

Most of the women I see driving Jeep Wrangler are usually in "Soccer Mom" mode and really do not give two flips about the fraternal nature of being part of a like community and waving. I have had a few but most times they are already driving a modded rig and you know they get the deal of what the wave is all about.

It depends where you live. If you live in California the wave has been established for years. Florida is equally as familiar, but there it’s strictly mall-crawlers. Colorado, Arizona, and Texas are catching up... but Utah, especially around Moab, only wave if they are truly impressed with your rig... (or if it’s a Gladiator)! ;{

Rarely get waves here in Michigan. I suspect it is because if the number of Jeeps... they are everywhere and very frequently seen on the road. Would be waving all the time.

First time Jeep owner and a woman, I wave most of the time; sometimes my mind is on other things and I miss the other Jeep passing by. My son was really hard on me about it over the first couple of weeks of having my Gladiator. My observations in OH, PA and IL have been that high schoolers don’t seem to wave. College students are hit and miss. Most others seem to wave.

Michigan here, yes I am waving all the time. Sooooo many Gladiators and Wrangler's around FCA. 40min drive to work (Auburn Hills), and I guess 10 + waves. I don't care if they don't wave back or didn't see me, I did my part. The best so far, was the guy who sped up to get beside me so he could say out loud, at 40mph, "That's 1 Bad Ass Rig!!!". That made my day. Oh and he was in a new Ranger

Haha... just drivin’ down the mountain into Los Alamos, passed a tricked out Taco (Tacoma), and he impulsively waved at me! Jeep waved! Ha! (Actually, it was more of a salute!) Guess he recognizes greatness (an iconic truck) when he sees one! lol!

I've had like three people out of the 300 Jeeps I've passed by wave... so I've stopped initiating.
