There is a whole other thread dedicated to this very question, although I try to avoid looking at it much since I’ve got too much money tied up in my house this year and not enough for further JT upgrades

I went with Falken Wildpeak AT3W in 255-80-17 which are a little taller (at 33.1") than the Rubi size falkens, 1.3" narrower and 10.3 lb lighter. The Rubi Falkens are 285-70-17 and weigh 62.8 lb. The255s are great on and off road, including rocks, dirt, snow, while being taller and heavier (by 1.6" and 18.5 lb) than the stock flimsy Bridgestones which are 31.5" and 34 lb. As noted above, there are multiple tire threads for you to peruse. The stock 7.5" wide wheel is the minimum Falken recommends for the 285s and right in the middle of the recommended widths for the 255s.

By the way, I did not lose any mpg with the 255s vs. the shorter and lighter Bridgestones.

you can go straight to 37s in stock configuration and oe wheel. But not all 37s fit as most require 8-9" width wheel vs our 7.5". I did milestar patagonia mt, 37x12.5r17 before putting on lift. Only requires shaving the lower plastic winglets in front of both wheels. Any major articulation will rub further tho, so off road not recommended. Otherwise, on road the tires came to an inch or so from splash shield up front. Drove for 2 weeks like so before putting on lift with no issues.

Any feed back appeciated
Have sport s max tow and tow 22’ camper- Have rubicon 17” wheels
Mostly daily driver
Want wider tire - decided on
285 70 17
Trying to decide btw falken WP at3
And Toyo open country At3
Which more friendly smoother rider
without sacrificing any important
characteristics
Like toyo 10 ply but maybe to aggressive!
Thanks for feedback

I just got the at3 in 285 75 17 with a C load rating. They go on tomorrow.

Both falken and toyo at3
Which way did u go?
True test will be after u drive on them
I wanted stronger sidewall which is
reason for 10 ply
May go to 6 ply??
Obviously still in clouds re final
decision- realistically it’s a deep dark hole until whichever is actually on
the vehicle and driven

Oops sorry went with the Toyo. I wanted the “better” ride of the 6 ply and lighter weight For the size.

I don’t have max tow so the tire selection process has been one tedious compromise.

So far- is Toyo nice hi way ride?
Not Noisy
I want to get the wider 285 to have
more rubber on the road

Many thanks for your responses
personally, I think the Toyo is a better
tire??
Only a couple miles on the highway as I just put them on today.

So far so good, I’ll know more over the next few days.

I chose the toyo’s for a few reasons most rest on the shoulders of a buddy that’s worked in the tire industry for almost 20 years. He had a few recommendations based on my needs/wants and the toyo’s manufacturing location, process and qa/qc checked all the boxes.

I added a photo of the fronts (Toyo) vs the stock sport s (rear) for comic relief.

Thanx
Was told by so many 34’s vs 33’s
could ?be OK but 35’s would definitely
rub which obviously is incorrect per your experience
Presume the stick out pretty far beyond
fenders?
Which Brand Tires?
Think 33’s will serve my purpose but
may check out 34’s
Appreciate your feedback
I have a couple threads on the topic. The first was actually putting the 35s on. The second was how they were with a Rubicon fender flare swap.

My tires are Falken MTs in 35/12.5/17. They stick out maybe a quarter to half inch, due to bulge from running at a lower pressure. There was no rubbing, either with the Sport Max Tow flares or Rubicons. Due to the Rubicon flare takeoffs I bought being the LED version and coming without the lights, I used my OEM halogen lights. They use a different bracket to mount which in turn affects the mounting of the flare to fender and liner to flare. On full passenger turn with even the smallest but of uneven terrain the tire hits the liner, and it sounds horrible. I didnt have this issue with the OEM flares, but then the tires could not articulate up as much without rubbing the flare, but that was rare.

Curious to hear your thoughts after a few days - if I pull the trigger on a JT, I think I'm going with Sport S Max Tow. Like the look of these on your sled, and I've settled on 285/70 or 285/75. Like the specs on the Toyos.

Thanks! The wheels and tires made the truck, it’s clear they all should have 33” + tires stock.

If I could have found a max tow I would have one.

The tires are nice, little noisier and some slight tread vibes at very low speeds but fades quickly. They are stiffer than the god awful stock car tires and the truck actually handles better.

In stop and go, it drives like it did, only you feel the tq converter a bit more. I’ll know more after some upcoming highway trips but so far I’m super happy.

I had a smaller size AT3W on my JKUR and they performed excellently on highway, in rain, snow, dirt. rocks, etc. I get a set for my JT, but chose the narrower and 10 lb. lighter 255-80-17 size.
