About to punch the trigger on a Venturous Ozark bed cap.

I enjoy taking the top off my JT during the warm weather - but am wondering how difficult it would be (and how weird it would look) with a bed cap/topper on and the JT top/doors off?

Any issues or annoyances with driving with the hard top off and a bed cap? Does the wind sorta bounce back to the front of the JT due to the bed cap?

Thanks.

I can't answer your question about what a rigid bed cap does to your topless cab experience... but unless you need to have a rigid cap, I would suggest you consider a Softopper. It is both easy to fold down and to remove if you prefer. I have one and it is a high-quality product.

I have a bed cap, but haven't pulled the rear cab hard top since installing the bed cap. I do run with my Bestop Sunrider open all the time and have run without doors, both with no issue. I have run a Soft Topper bed cap just before getting an RSI Smartcap (because RSI Logistics are terrible and they could not deliver on time). I can say that if you frequently need to change from open to closed bed, they might be quite handy. For my use case, the lack of security and especially dust made the hard topper a far better choice.

It all depends on your personal use I suppose. I actually replaced my RSi SmartCap with the Softopper because I couldn't put my black dogs in the black steel cap more than half the year due to heat. The small vent windows didn't provide enough cooling. Now I roll the Softopper sides up in warm weather and down in cold weather... and I don't have to worry about tree branches breaking my glass. But... if it weren't for my dogs... I would have stayed with the SmartCap. It's a great product.

At 80 mph with the hardtop off and the topper soft or hard installed…it won’t last long and kill whoever is behind you

I sat the cruise on my JTR w 2.5” lift and 37’s at 85 mph on a 2K mile trip recently. 80% of the trip was interstate

I doubt this. I think the grill & windshield create a much bigger "envelope" than you think.

There might be enough turbulance to disturb a soft topper, but I think it probably pushed down on the truck toppers more than we realize. I have driven multiple hours with my doors & rear window of the soft top removed & my Alu-Cab didn't budge.

I suppose if your topper is not installed/attached correctly, it could be a problem... but then I ask, why not make sure it is in stalled/attached properly?

These are the best I have my hands on right now.

Yes, it looks weird but hey it's feels good so I don't care what it looks like.

I will add more photos to this thread as I find them and/or take them this summer.

Note: I take my Alu-Cab off as needed... technically I put my Alu-Cab on as needed. It is currently hanging from my garage ceiling.

You'd undoubtedly end up in the same scenario if you drive 80mph with only the front panels removed... just 8 small bolts hold the rear portion of the top on...
