That's not exactly a terrible price given what a bag like that and an underseat bracket cost. I mean with the price of most overlanding(tm) gear I was expecting closer to $399 or more.

I still went the DIY route but I'd argue this is more reasonable than some of the other options out there. I remember one that floated around here that was like $150 for just a hose assembly and this system has much better connectors.
yeah I looked at a lot of options. Of course you could DIY cheaper but I have a number I assign to my time when I’m thinking about this stuff. Plus I’m not good at this type of thing which means my DIY would be pretty janky.

time cost and format considered I think this is a great kit. Now, I think the arb is overpriced, but that is separate question…

OK some of what you said I understand and some of it I’m not gonna try and understand. The system is designed to be used with a twin ARB compressor. If you go to their website or look it up on YouTube you’ll see their install video. It’s extremely detailed. It’s not difficult. Here are a couple items I purchased on Amazon to complement my system. You can plug a single air line into the female receptacle. All of the connection points are push poll QD connections.

The reason the kit is meant for the twin ARB compressor is that it’s 100% duty cycle meaning there’s no cooldown. You run it until you’re done and it moves something over 6 cubic feet per minute.

When I bought my ARB, I gave my unused via air compressor to a buddy of mine. It’s not a 100% duty cycle but it has fairly decent volume. If I can remember what model it is I’ll edit this post an additional picture and some stats for it. He purchased Airlines, clamp on locking chucks, and push poll fittings shown in the photos below and made his own air system for his JL.

thanks! Basically my point was just, how do I get set up to use standard air compressor connectors with this kit. I have the arb twin and understand how to get this set up for inflation, but want to also use (or have the option to use) my air tools using this setup.

your tips plus some others in another kraken thread get me there. Just a few part orders and I’m on my way.

Yeah no shit. But just the kit is 318.00$?
Yes. It’s actually pretty in line for the market in term of what these mounting solutions cost. I also had my eye on a viair system that’s was like $450, but I’d have to engineer my own solution for mounting. To each their own.

that’s actually where they instruct now, they updated to that location especially for people with Mopar slush mats.
The mopar slush mats are the reason I went looking for a different place to run the harness. Glad I’m following instructions after all!

It's about on-par with the UpDownAir system ($299), but it looks like the UpDownAir kit comes with more stuff like higher-quality whips and a regulator with deflate valve which helps to justify the cost. The UpDownAir system also has the ability to read and set target pressures because of that. There just isn't enough I see here to go "yeah, that looks like it's worth over $300" after comparing the two.

Personally at that price point, I'd prefer the more complete and concealed look of the UpDownAir system over a couple air chucks with hoses hanging out. It also has the advantage where the whips are smaller and therefore easier to store, and if something goes wrong with the whips they're easier to replace. Plus it easily allows for a secondary input to the regulator manifold if your on-board air goes out. There just seem to be so many more plusses for less money. But that's just me. To each their own. I'll admit the Kraken system looks like it has less possible failure points because it has less stuff included, but to me that also means it should be cheaper.

In a pinch, all you have to do is pull one of the lines from the “Y” and plug it in. I got the extra length in the event I can’t pull beside someone. If I can, I’d just pull one of the lines and use that.

I installed the Kraken system when it first came out about 3 or 4 months ago. I can now inflate my tires easier and sometimes faster than deflating them with my valve stem remover. I used a portable Viair for many years...
The big advantage of the Kraken is that it is so fast and simple, and the short hoses wrap up and store very easily and fast. I now talk about the trip with my buddies and just listen for the 4 honks while airing up. Also, no more waiting for the Viair to cool off in the back of the truck before I put it away later....
The Kraken is a high quality kit and super convenient and fast.... If you air up and down a lot like me, you will appreciate it.... I would buy it again for my next Jeep.

Note: My only complaint is the high shipping charges from Canada... but, that is not EPIC's fault....

That is a nice kit.

I have no regrets though, for me it was about the cost of the compressor itself more than anything else.

I am limited with where I could mount my compressor due to being in a diesel.

I can certainly get a couple of regulators for $16 off Amazon and plumb them in line with the air hoses, that’s actually a great idea to mod this beast. The compressor auto stops when it feels pressure so that shouldn’t really be an issue either.

Everything stores away very neatly and compactly in the provided bag. So that’s another win there.

The thing about this dang jeep aftermarket is that there are like 10,000 options for everything. I’d never even heard of UpDownAir until now. I can certainly borrow from them though. ?
