Hey guys - have owned my 23 Mojave now for a couple of months and have a question. It came equipped with the Mopar "trail rail management system" - you know that set of rails around the inner perimeter of the bed rails that utilizes the sliding adjustable anchor "jobbies". Now I have been around the block more than a few times, have owned different trucks, trailers, hauled countless dirt bikes and assorted furniture, etc ,etc using tie down straps, ropes, bungees but I'll be damned if I can figure out what the designers were thinking when they came up with the shape of the aforementioned anchor "jobbies". They are all but useless when using any of the typical tie-down straps or even bungee cords because they are too wide for the U-hook to fit properly. The only possibility I can think of is they intended them for use using ropes because they do kind of resemble the tie down cleats on a boat. Seriously? that can't be what they really intended is it? Can anybody enlighten me? Thanks!

I use some pretty heavy duty (overkill) ratchet straps for my ATV and have nothing but 100% confidence in said “jobbies.”

Not great pictures, but I never would have thought I’d be sharing about them. Lol.

Edit: I’ve hauled 5 mounted tires with far less heavy duty straps as well.

when the tie down strap is oriented at an extreme angle (either up or down) , I agree - they work fine. but when you want to strap something say at bed level is when they make no sense. the radius of the hooks of most common tie down straps or bungees is not large enough to remain secure. a simple eye bolt or u bolt would be far more functional.

I use a strap extention like the one in the link and loop it through itself. Works great.

Hence the tie down near the bed floor. Or loop the bungee through the hook and back to itself.
