So I've had my Gladiator about 15 months/28k miles. Today I hopped into the truck and hit the start button, but instead of starting I got the "Key Fob Not Detected" message on the DIC. That was puzzling as the fob was in the little slot between the cup holders. Anyway, I tried again and got the message to press the start button with the end of the fob. That didn't work either. I tried several times to no avail.

I replaced the FOB battery to see if it would help. It didn't. In fact, when pressing the buttons the red LED on the FOB would blink as usual but the truck would not respond. I tested the "old" battery and found it still produces just over 3v. In short, I do not believe the battery was a problem.

In a final attempt to get the truck to start I used the Uconnect app and initiated a remote start. That worked. I was then able to press the start button which allowed the truck to drive. A few minutes later all symptoms vanished and now the FOB is working as it should.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? The most concerning part was that using the fob to push the start button was unsuccessful. To me, this signifies a problem with the truck, not the FOB.

I had a similar issue, not sure if it was the fob or the Jeep. I was able to fix it by using the remote to lock and unlock the doors and then tried starting. This worked for me, it was only once and hasn't repeated but just throwing it out there in case it happens again.

My remote wasn’t doing anything. Wouldn’t lock or unlock, remote start, or active horn/lights. The little red LED on the fob would blink with a key press but the truck would not respond.

Well fooey, so much for my helpful hint. Sounds like you are doing the right thing with the batteries.

Well replacing the battery didn’t resolve the issue. The old battery still produces over 3v so it’s still good, according to my multi-meter.

It’s as if the truck did not recognize my fob as being my fob.

Okay, last thought and I'm out of ideas. I know the aux battery controls the stop-start system and I did need to have that battery replaced for low voltage, maybe that might be an issue.

I know this is old, but mine remote is doing the same thing. no functions work, but light blinks on fob. Less than a year old, can't see the battery being the issue. message on dash stated to start the jeep with the fob and that worked, but remote buttons still doesn't do anything.

Suggestions?

I had a similar issue where my remote just stopped working completely. Everything in the truck worked fine but wouldn't lock or unlock doors either. Did your remote work on the doors?

I disconnected the negative block from the main batter and also the negative aux lead from the main block. You must do this step or aux battery will keep power to the computer.
After both disconnected for 10 minutes reconnect both and it should work.

I just completely bypassed the aux battery at this point. Tons of problems with it.

@Rubiwoo

Have you tried your other remote? What happens when you use that remote?
Unfortunately, we are in Mexico. Other remote at home in California.

Reading g through some of the links, we did have a lot of stop/start going on lastnight due to traffic. Maybe I'll disable it and drive around.

Sounds like a different issue. When mine did this I could not start the truck even holding the fob to the start button. I have since replaced the aux battery due to other issues with stop/start that were resolved with the new aux battery.

I think the advice to disconnect both negative aux terminals for about 10 minutes to fully reboot the computer is a good one.

Oddly, turned off auto stop/start all day today using the Tazer. Went to church and nothing changed. Went to lunch and after I heard the doors unlock using the remote. I thought, odd, I just heard the doors unlock. Got home and tried the remote, heard the honk and the doors locked.

So... no clue?
