Had our Gladiator treated with Krown a couple weeks ago. The tech did an excellent job. I didn't let them drill holes so I didn't get the warranty. Figured there was no way I was punching holes in the doors or rockers on a brand new vehicle. He did pull the tail lights and sprayed inside the bed along with inside the tail gate. Overall I was very happy with the work. I was also very happy with how good the underside of the Gladiator looked before the treatment. Jeep does nice work! Here's some before and after pics.

I've used Fluid Film for years. A lot cheaper ($9/can) if you don't mind a little mess and doing it yourself. Had many vehicles stay rust free in Canadian and Upstate NY Winters.

What is that stuff? Looks excellent. Does it stay "wet" or sticky or does it dry looking like that?

Looks good, what is the surface like now where it was sprayed with Krown? I sprayed mine with Fluid Film a year ago and it is great at preventing rust but leaves a waxy oily film that remains soft and attracts dust and dirt, makes working on anything sprayed with it pretty messy.

Well, I’m going to have the Jeep up on a lift on Saturday putting on my Rubicon take offs. I’ll see if I can get a picture since it’s been a couple weeks.

As far as what it is, it’s a “seeping“ oil much like Fluid Film.

I'm getting the krown done in January (earliest appointment I could get...).. But I wouldn't think they would bother with the doors as they are aluminum, or am I missing something?

Watch this. He has some interesting test and results to consider before you spend the money.

I use combination CRC (avoid on rubber) and Fluid Film+ testing Surface Shield cavities and frame rails.

One nice thing with FF is it can get on plastic rubber or anything as it has no solvents in it. Just picked up a can of Blaster Surface Shield it is supposed to be very good as well.

I've got a question for the OP.

You mentioned holes in the doors.

Did they treat the inside of the doors?
Do the doors normally have drain holes?

I ask because way back in the 90s, a number of Jap cars had terrible trouble with rusting because the American importers added undercoating in an attempt to reduce already existing rust problems.

The problem was that in the process of spraying inside the doors, the undercoating plugged up the weep holes in the bottom of the doors. So moisture would collect in the doors. This made them rust even faster despite the undercoating.

I guess I'm saying be careful.

I suspect that they did not spray inside the doors, since its pretty unnecessary since the doors are aluminum. But just wanted to bring it up.

Sorry, I haven’t checked this thread in a bit. He used an aerosol nozzle on the doors via the drain holes. As they are aluminum I’m not super worried anyway.

Watched the video and am disappointed. Hopefully it works better than that in “real life”. My father also had his new Subaru Ascent done last week. He went ahead and had the rockers and doors drilled. Guess we’ll see…..

Ok, one year later. We got our second treatment done today on the Jeep and I took my company truck in as well. It’s a 2021 1500 Silverado diesel that had zero rust treatment other than factory. Both of them get washed once a week with underbody. The Chevy was purchased in December 2020 so it’s been through two winters. We got the Gladiator in May of ’21 so just one winter but our son lives in Michigan so it goes up there every month or so.

ZERO rust under the Jeep. It has some dirt on it though from our off-road adventures.

The Chevy however…..

The Krown guy spent about 90 minutes on each vehicle. He was very thorough and both sure looked like they were well coated. He pulled the tail lights on both to spray inside the bed and tailgate. He also hit every nook he could find under the truck. I didn’t let him drill any holes.

End of the day I’m pretty happy with Krown. I know it’s not much of a test yet but so far so good. Also the tech said there was still some oil residue under the Jeep a year later. Considering I washed it with underbody once a week and it’s done a couple River crossings I’m impressed.
