Another vote for use of a hammock. I have an Australian Cattle Dog and he feels safest when it's set up as a hammock vs it just being used as a seat cover.

Curious as to what breed dog you have, and its size. You may want to consider flipping the back seats up and removing the storage tray to create space (with passenger seat moved forward) or even doing a seat delete (all or partial).

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! She's a 65 pound retriever who is pretty tall and is used to riding on the front Floorboard of my wife's Tiguan and a Frontier.

With Covid now a lot of dealers are letting you take test drives alone. It might be worth it to take a test drive and swing by the house if you are close enough or have someone staged close with your dog to see if she fits.
My dealer let me take mine home for the whole day and we drove it all over the place. Smart move on their part. By the end of the day we couldn't imagine life without it.

The backseats fold up. You can remove the storage bin and have a semi flat area for your dog that is even safer if you tether him.

We have a 1 year old Seeing Eye lab puppy (plus 2 cattle dogs) that we drove to Florida with, from Pennsylvania...18 hours straight through.

The two cattle dogs rode in the back seat. For them I put the 40 seat up, and left the 60 side down. This allowed them 2 different levels, which kept them seperated some...room to move without hitting the other. The lab spent the whole trip in the passenger footwell, either with or below our feet. We were able to make this work by installing the Misch 4X4 Big Boy Seat Bracket. This allows the the seat to go back an additional 5-6" (the seat back is pretty much tight againt the rear seat if it is down). He can curl up completely on the floor, or sit like in picture below.

That is awesome! Thanks for posting. Was he able to look out the window when sitting up? Also could you link the big boy bracket you mentioned? Thanks!

My dog definitely won't fit in the floor space. The seat doesn't move back far enough.

Thanks! Do the brackets still allow the seat to be moved all the way forward like stock? Any downsides to it?
With the brackets installed, the farthest foward position is the same as the farthest back position of oem.

The brackets make the seat about a 1/4" higher, so you head gets closer to the found bar. Depending how tall you are, this could be a issue for you.
