What is the purpose of this large bracket on front passenger side area?

Ordered my 2022 Mojave on March 12th, picked it up May 27th. and mine does not have it.

It is a "Tire Deflector Bracket", supposedly for crash safety purposes.

Thankfully, my 2021 Mojave does not have it.

Yeah, hate to be too safe.

My 2022 does have it but i suppose a lift and bigger tires might negate it. The only reason i could think of someone not wanting it is it getting hung on things off roading.

Well this certainly was an issue when installing our RSE gen 3 steps. Had to notch the step bracket to make it work

I'm so used to notching things to make them fit these trucks - Western said "you may need to notch your bumper" to make the snow plow side brackets fit - nope, I notched THEIR brackets. Good grief, Western - 1/4-3/8" and you could have saved a sentence in your instruction book.
I had to notch my MOPAR splash guards because of the side brackets you had to notch your step brackets to clear. I had to notch a plow bracket to clear the fog light wiring clip and connector on the right frame rail - another thing I could have said "hey, Western - did you TRY your brackets on a Gladiator? Wasn't there a fog light harness in the way?"
1/4" notch in THEIR bracket fixed it, and again, since it was an edge, zero strength concerns. I'm sure there's other parts I've had to notch I'm not recalling right now.
It's got to be hard for some of these companies to keep up with unannounced changes when Jeep says "nope, our frame has not changed" and they are correct - but there's another piece of steel bolted to it!

I did have to modify 2 front receivers to fit the JTs I've had correctly and don't even think you will get away with a front receiver AND a winch and not have to notch or cut something. Then do a receiver, winch AND snow plow. Keep the grinder and chassis black touch-up paint real handy.

Yep had to trim the front bumper frame a bit to make room for the Warn Zeon 12 winch although the Artec Nighthawk bumper did have room for it--but barely.

Received response back for RSE that they have already started incorporating a change to their step sliders for the new brace.
