Largest Socket Contest - Photo Required

This is pointless, but hopefully will be fun.

The contest is this. I want to see who owns the largest socket. The rules are as follows. You must already own it. No pictures from Amazon or tool sites. And no buying one to win. If it’s owned by the company you work for, it doesn’t count. That should take care of all the linemen and steel workers. Honor system applies. Drive size doesn’t matter, fastener size does. But if there’s a tie for socket size, the winner is the one with the smaller drive size to socket ratio. Because why not.

Here’s my entry. 2 1/4” Snap-on, 3/4” drive.

For bonus points, a 1” drive Snap-on extension. For those hard to reach places. This box very rarely gets opened.

If this ends up being fun, I’ll come up with some kind of prize.

OK, I see I'll be digging into my bigger socket sets and seeing what I have. Really doubt I can top that, but I don't always remember all that I have (it's not just getting old, I've always been like that)

I had a big socket set years ago. I think I sold it though. It was a 2" drive and had some 5 and 6" sockets haha. I bought it for the one time I needed it on a big truck that ended up rolling through the shop years ago. It was a 'kit' of course so several hundred bucks for one time use since the shop didnt have the right tools available. Then for funnies I ended up picking up a massive adjustable wrench that weighed probably 30 pounds and was nearly 2" long haha. It was more of a gimmick for the shop than anything.

Those are big. Wow. Mine are from my grandfather. I’ve got a bunch of old tools that were his. I’ll never get rid of them. Even if I never use them.

The biggest socket I could easily find was a 3/4” drive 42mm for the JT's pitman arm nut. After reading this far I could tell it wouldn't even be competitive enough to justify a picture. I’ve got a 1” drive set in the storage building that I think goes into the low or mid 2s but it’s raining and I’m dressed for bed

That one is stamped right on the socket "for hand use only" they are extremely light aluminum alloy. I have a few different ones.

I'm an old air cooled guy, so I think the biggest socket I have is a 36 or 37, can't compete with the bigger sockets in here.

I do however have an exhaust valve from a diesel engine in a submarine as a door stop, it's about 35" long and the valve base is roughly 10" in diameter.... so that's kind of cool I guess
