Has anyone had their replacement axle leak?
Not me but I saw somewhere an owner posted pictures from after 500 miles the new one started leaking.

My 2021 was built on 9-03-2020, a very early 2021. My axle has this stamped into diff cover.

Mine is a Max Tow. Can someone with a leaking Max Tow see if their's has the same stamping? Also post your MDH.

Edit: Curious if it has "REV-A"

Edit 2: To clarify mine is not leaking.
And if a 2020 Max Tow owner without a leaking axle could see if theirs is same as mine as well. This may have nothing to do with anything but curious.

Mine has the exact same markings except "112-1" instead of "220-0" in the middle.

Build date 5-27-21 at 6:00 a.m.

No leaks.

Mine is pretty much same except the middle # as well, my middle # is “053-1”. Also, there is a “WM” a little below the “REV A”.

For reference my MDH from the door jamb is “031512” and it is a Sport S Diesel. Not sure when it started leaking but since I became aware of it a few weeks ago I don’t believe it has leaked much; I check every day and there hasn’t been more than a few drops on the backside of hub assembly, also the inside of the wheel hasn’t gotten noticeably more covered in oil either.

Since I don’t have any imminent long trips or need to haul/tow heavy, I’m not that anxious about it. I just hope the eventual fix solves the problem permanently and it doesn’t become a chronic issue requiring multiple trips to the dealership.

I think the numbers stamped on the diff cover are Julian dates. For example 112-1 would be April 22 of 21.

220-0 would be August 8 of 20

Thanks, that lines up with the truck above your post as well.

So the numbers stamped on the diff cover are probably the date the diff was assembled. There should be a pin stamp in the middle of axle tube on the passenger side rear. The last 4 digits of that appear to be another julian date code for axle assembly. I checked mine and the axle assembly date is the exact same date as truck build date. The axle plant is right across the street from Gladiator plant.

So basically using the MDH # is still the easiest method.

I don’t think they are date codes.
The wide axle series of Dana axles are coded 210M front and 220M rear.
Unless I am mistaken the Max Tow, Rubicon, Overland High Altitude, and the desert runner (can’t think of the model right now) all have the wide axle configuration.
Also worth mentioning there is a difference in the internal axle configuration on the front for sure, possible the rear also, between the gas engine and Diesel engine models.
I found this out the hard way.

I have to disagree. The date stamped on my diff cover is 323-0 which is Nov 19 of 20. This lines up with the axle assembly date 0346 which would be Dec 12 20, the same day as the MDH date on door jam.

I work in automotive and am very familiar with these types of date codes.

Parts like axle assemblies will have date codes.
How would you explain 112-1 if not a Julian date code (especially since it matches the truck build date timeframe)
Date coding like that is common. Ford used to use some complex letter and number combinations, other companies used similar but transposed the characters I supposed just to be different?
Motorola used week then year (203 would be 20th week of 1973 for example) but what about their stuff in 1963? You had to be clever. Ford used the decade and year in that decade. Prestolite used letters and numbers - but only tracked year and month, not date. F9 was September 1973

Yup - and finally it's a code that makes sense - the Julian date instead of that letter and number crap or number and letter except i or was it j - ugh, those old systems could be messy.

I have not checked mine, so if built Dec 20 2020 what will be the stamp?
