People get distracted - it happens. Thus - autoparkWhy leaving it in drive is a mystery - for now.
Try going back and forth between and EV, a stick and an automatic and see how that works. That's not an insult, just a serious comment on another way this stuff happens.
More common than you think.
My son went from his EV to my JT and pulled into a parking spot and simply got out. Why? Because his car detects the person in the seat - and handles thing for them.
You know about muscle memory. And for some people all it takes is one thing happening out of order for any reason - they are on to the next step of getting out. It autoparks, sits there running, and they are quiet.
Both batteries need to be disconnected. This should "kill" the memory.
but there's a lot of people out there unaware of how exactly to accomplish that........
So in case the OP isn't aware (and for lurkers) - take the negative off the main battery,
take the two black cables apart from each other - do NOT let them touch anything!
Remove the positive cable from the main battery.
That isolates both batteries from the vehicle and each other.
As long as the two black cables at the main battery are connected, the auxiliary battery is grounded, and in the system.
