I would rather have my vehicle just stay running and not shut off. I know the reason behind the whole thing. What really upsetting is that my state charges a high way usage fee now for fuel efficiency cars. Guess I get screwed either way..
I use the button on the dash to keep the ESS off so the engine runs all the time, because I want the cabin to stay comfortable. If your state is charging you an efficiency fee for a Jeep, then it is just a money grab. Those fees are supposed to be for vehicles that don't pay road taxes collected through gasoline sales.
I definitely agree with you about the money grab. The bad thing is they don't even fix the roads correctly here with the supposed fees so I'm sure someone here is pocketing it or it's being misused.
You make a good point. When the dealership investigates a battery failure under warranty, they hook up BOTH batteries for a few hours and test them both. The test is actually sent to corporate and must show that the battery tested bad before they can replace it. My primary was bad, but the auxiliary is still good. We had quite a discussion about this whole process.Late to the thread, but I sure hope they replaced BOTH batteries.
If the aux battery was failing, it will continue to draw down a new main battery and you'll be back to square one soon enough.
Then a aux battery deletion may be in your future. It's certainly in mine, as the first sign of trouble. Maybe even before.
Well, today I went to get my jeep and the svc mgr told me that on second testing the aux battery tested bad too so they replaced it too. I'm glad the indicator lit up when it did or it could have drained the new primary in short time.
That's good to hear. I was pretty sure the aux was cannibalizing the main from the beginning, and it would have done the same again with the new one.
