On all of these oil threads about who's is bigger and lasts longer and whatever, it's great to hear "I got 10 million miles on this, or 5 million miles on that or 8 million miles on oil I bought from the dollar store that I only change on leap years".
What would be more meaningful (at least to me), and would be interesting to hear, is what oil and maintenance schedule were people using when the 3.6's began developing the hated "tic tic tic" sound or failed for some other reason. Were they following the manufactures recommendations or their own maintenance schedules. Were they using the 0W20 oil or some other weights or variations? How many miles and what climate do they live in? What about towing? What brand of oil were they using? (I really don't think that matters but, whatever).
True, there may be no direct cause and effect between the two but it would be interesting to know if there is at least some pattern or appearance thereof that may have some effect, either directly or more likely indirectly, if at all.
Anyway, not to pee on the parade (or into the oil filler hole), but some other information about what did not work well would be helpful.
