I just installed the “keyed alike” locking hood latch. Now onto the fuel cap. Mopar has such a cap, you need to manually put the lock gizmos together to match your ignition key.
OK, watched the UTube video, is it as easy as the guy from Quadratec says it is?

It is not too difficult. Just make 100% sure it is correctly keyed before final assembly. Once the cylinder is inserted it cannot be removed.

Yes it is. Put one on my JT and my wife's JLUR without an issue.

Personally, if they are gonna steal 5 gal of gas from my Gladiator, I HOPE they siphon through the filler neck, because usually the way they get past a locking gas cap is to punch a hole in the gas tank, catch what they can, and let the rest hit the ground.

OP here. I would compare this cap assembly to a difficult Lego set. I spread out the parts and pieces on a clean desk blotter and drew quadrants for the different lock components. Good light, good eye site and a little patience and this becomes an easy but tedious task.

BTW, I purchased the “Bolt” keyed alike receiver lock and a padlock from Amazon, both were “Warehouse Deals”. Both were returns where someone stuck their key into the lock forever setting the lock to their key, there is no “redoing” that.
These are both very nice items, just buy a new one and not try to save a few bucks in a Warehouse Deal boat anchor.

Can't siphon via the filler on the gasser JT. I tried, failed.
That's when I figured - why bother with a locking gas cap when even on my own truck in the privacy of my own garage with all of the tools I have on hand - I wasn't able to get gas back out the way it went in.
If someone can show me how they did it - I mean REALLY actually DID siphon gas out of a GAS JT, I'd like to see the hose or tubing they used, etc.
Funny thing is - both of the people my wife knows around Chariton who had gas stolen said it was done with a punch in the bottom of the tank. Maybe my wife can find out what those two women drove but seriously, who bothers with a SLOW painful siphon process when it's easier out the bottom?

I've not heard of that happening to anyone in many years.
Thought that went out with the BeeGees and disco.
Maybe around certain bars..............

I live in the West, park your Jeep at a trailhead etc, secluded or quiet place. Theft of battery, whatever is a real possibility. Idaho is being overrun by West coast refugees, unfortunately their bad littering habits, crazy driving and whatever has followed them here. Not a political statement, a statement of fact.
