Not recently, but last time gas prices skyrocketed. They hit three cars one night. Got the neighbors, too.

Oh dang sorry to hear that. I can imagine the feeling of having that happen at home really sucks.

This guy makes it look pretty easy to bypass a locking cap.

My, that’s a lot of assumptions…
As I said, they got three cars. Three of MY cars, so even if your cost estimation is correct, that’s $120.
I don’t buy fuel anywhere close to twice weekly. Maybe twice monthly.
I didn’t pay but a fraction of $40 for a locking cap.
And the cap I have takes maybe 10 extra seconds to use: the hassle factor is minimal.

Kevin
the time cost is usually irrelevant when you have to wait for the damn pumps to process your card if it has a smart chip. Or enter a loyalty number. Or refuse a car wash.

The transaction time cost - which is always there - is way more than unlocking a cap time cost.

well I went and bought a locking gas cap today... anyone else doing this?
Yes I went with a locking cap but leave it unlocked unless I'm somewhere I worry about vandalism. More importantly the locking hood latches. I also leave them unlocked unless I an somewhere I need to protect against battery theft ect. Every crackhead knows if you need a battery a jeep is the easiest to get to.
