I need one for diesel....looking around. Skid plate will deter drilling the tank somewhat, but for idiots wanting to contaminate your fuel or siphon, I want piece of mind....

while I have seen this scare tactic on news feeds I amnot sure that most thieves are that prepared...
Not watching the news much are you. It's the new tactic since siphon holes can no longer be used in new vehicles.

All you need is a refill funnel and then insert the siphon hose.

Had mine on for a while now. Initially was awkward turning the cap while holding the key but now its nothing. Don’t consider it a “hassle” as I don’t use the key for much else.
Precisely why it's a hassle. I don't use the key for anything at all, I don't ever take it out of my pocket. Proximity sensors.

Thieves that steal gas are, since those aren't your run of the mill normal thieves. Most people these days wouldn't know how to siphon gas, or anything about cars, So the ones left that do these kinds of crimes will be carrying a drill. A battery operated drill and a container are all that is needed. Much quicker than trying to siphon out of a new vehicle. And guaranteed to work on anything, as long as you've got a nice, sharp bit.

I mean folks are prepared enougb to steal a catalytic converter, so what's the difference?

I have them as well but i use the key to lock my seats and for the gas cap. An extra layer of security is worth the 2 seconds it takes to unlock it for me. If you’re in a low crime or low populated area then yeah it’s probably not worth it.

yes there are all kinda thieves in our country... and some who evidently go to clever processes... that being said... most crimes are about opportunity. I lock my home knowing full well an enterprising thief will find a way around that.
Ditto for my truck which sits in my driveway

I have one of the MOPAR caps that you set up to your fob key.

Was kind of fun setting it up, having never done that before.

People are right, if they REALLY want your gas, the locking cap isn't going to matter.

People are wrong, you CAN siphon gas through the JT fillers, don't even need the fill funnel. Piece of stout hose around the siphon hose will keep the flapper out of the way. With a manual pump, I can empty a gas tank almost as fast as drilling a hole in the tank and put the gas where I want it instead of wearing it.

It is peace of mind. Get the locking cap and have the knowledge you did what you could to protect yourself.

So, if it would make you feel better, get it. If it doesn't really matter, spend the money elsewhere.
