I use the DeeZee DZ87026 rubber mat with my factory spray-in bedliner (which is essentially the texture of coarse sandpaper). Works great, and keeps things from sliding around. Now I just need to get something to cover the tailgate to save my knees when I get up into the bed.

I haven't added a bedmat to my Gladiator yet, but loved having one in the composite bed of my Taco. It kept stuff from sliding around and was much nicer if you had to kneel, etc on it, much more comfortable.

This sounds like an echo but smart liner fits great, keeps stuff from sliding around and is soft on the knees if I have to crawl in the bed for anything.

I did a full compliment of studs (244 per tire) right after I took that picture. Extra glad I have the rubber mat now.

It will probable look like ass if you try to sand it. If there is any low spots or thin areas, run the risk of sanding through.

Also, the factory liner is sprayed in over a adhesion promoter and not a scuff sanded surface like traditional Line-X or Rhino Liner is applied over. The one weak point of the factory spray in liner is if you actual get to the paint, it is easier for the remaining liner material to get weak and start to peel over time.
Looking like ass is fine- I’m talking about creating a smoother surface for a 3M tape seal for a tonneau cover. Just the top surface of the bed rail, right under the window.

I bought a bed mat for my Canyon before I had it Line-X’d. I ended up leaving the mat in on top of the Line-X. I liked the combo.

I went back and forth on getting the spray-in liner. I've had drop in's on all my other trucks and the only thing i didn't like about those, is cargo would slide around if not secured.
Now that I have the spray-in, I'm thinking how nice the drop-in's are for just sliding something into the bed! I may just get a mat like others on here are doing.

I have the factory spray in liner with a generic rubber bed mat I cut down to fit.

I also have a tonneau. So, when I'm moving something long and heavy, I throw in a large sheet of heavy cardboard. It makes it easy to move the larger stuff in and out. The tonneau keeps the cardboard dry.

You can use an adhesive promoter on the spray in liner so the 3M tape will stick without issue.

'My setup is a bedrug for the bottom and a weathertech piece for the tailgate. I chose the weather tech for the tailgate, instead of the longer bedrug because the weather tech is attached with 6 of the torx head bolts on top of some velcro. So far it's worked out quite well and the bedrug is very comfortable on the knees.

I went for the cheap horse mat from Tractor Supply. Somewhere in this forum it was recommended and it seems to work really well. Just had to cut it to fit, which was hard due to the thickness.

Was just going to suggest this. It’s my plan, I tend to put odd shaped metal objects in truck beds and have on more than one occasion dented a bed. These thick rubber mats really help distribute pin point loads a good amount.

Hell, I cut a piece of that horse mat to put between the base of my 100# Murray Power hammer and the concrete base. You'll destroy the truck before you drop anything on it that will puncture that stuff.

I have the Weathertech bed and tailgate liner, attached with Velcro adhesive to the bare bed. If you have a tonneau cover I think it would fit over a factor spray bedliner for some added non slip protection.

I have been using "carpet squares" forever just for this reason. A set of floor mats from Autozone? Shoot, Ollie's sells all manner of rug runners. I also keep a cut away section of appliance box cardboard back there. Fiberglass shell topper. My truck has a hard, shell liner that is brutal on the knees.
