I hope we all get our rigs soon. Oddly I feel like this is a brotherhood and I want to see everyone get there trucks so they can enjoy the summer with friends and family. We’re also the people keeping manual transmissions from being extinct.

Dealer just emailed me. Said the truck left the lot and is on the way to the U.P. I thought it was on its way the 11th. Confirmed I was KZ yesterday so I'm really hoping it will be here for the weekend. I should have asked if it's on a truck or still on the train. :fingerscrossed:. I'm really having a hard time focusing at work now

About to purchase an Overland with a 6 Speed and Trailer Tow Package. I was looking at the Spec Sheet and it says max towing is 4000 lb. I thought that they were 6000 lb (without Max Tow Package). Does anyone have any real-world experience with this?

I was planning on picking this truck up later this week. So, I am surprised and concerned.

Any help, please.

It's the transmission. The manual dramatically reduces the tow rating. I believe the highest you can get with a manual is 4,500 lbs.

From what I have read, it is actually the limitation of the clutch. I can tell you from towing a few things with my JKUR (6-speed manual and 35" tires, 4.10s), you wouldn't want to pull anything over 2,000lbs. I have a 3/4 ton pick-up for towing things (luckily), but personally I do not believe the tow ratings on these Gladiators. Sure it will "move" it, but controlled stopping, adequate acceleration, etc I have my doubts on. If you want to put a 4,500 boat in/out of the water once a year, no problem, but any frequent use/pulling of something that weight/size would be a headache. Of course, thats my own personal opinion/experience.

Jeep offers two two packages. One being the standard tow package with hitch, hd cooling, and upgraded alternator. The max tow package is only available with the auto and comes with 4.10 gears and wider axles.

Most of us here are still waiting for them to show up

Exactly. Two (2) jetskis seem to be the limit for comfortable pulling. I've tried to pull a two (2) place clam shell snowmobile trailer down the high way. My JKUR will NOT hold 70MPH or more in 6th gear with any head wind. Works in 5th gear, but damn it doesnt sound happy.

I am hopeful the Gladiator with a similar setup (Pentastar, 6-speed (different trans than JK), 35" tires, and 4.10 gears) will be better at pulling. In reality, not much has changed in terms of final gearing and/or power. Therefore, the same result would not surprise me. If you want to tow on a regular basis, i'd say, go with an auto.

Just got email from Jeep today with first-ever build estimate--expected to start build slightly over 3 months from when i ordered:

"Our resources indicate your vehicle is estimated to begin production the week of 7/29/19."

Jeep never sent me an email after my status changed to D1 on 7/15--had to find that out with Chat, but it's interesting to note Chat does not yet have the build estimate--just checked with Chat and they tell me still in scheduling.
