Looking into 35 inch tires and want to keep my stock wheels. Have been looking at the Mickey thompson baja boss at's in 255/85r17. Also looking at the Kenda klever rt in 35x10.5r17. My rig is being built for overlanding. My jeep has the wider axles as its max tow and I bought a set of quadratec fender flares that match the rubicon flares in height and width. I don't want the tires to stick out past the flares but have also been looking at 35x11.5r17 nitto tires as well. What is everyones opinion on these tires? Right now I'm leaning toward the mickey thompsons but have read a lot of good reviews on the kenda klevers. The nittos are a little expensive for me.

I have the Baja Boss and they are awesome. In rain, snow , mud, highway speed, they have been great. However, it took two different set to get to this point. The first set, all tires were out of round and I had vibration regardless of how many times the tire shop rebalance them. So they ordered 4 new tires and no issues.

Mickey Thomson for sure. If you’re not rock crawling, check out the Baja Legend. They’re 10 pounds lighter per tire. I’ve had two sets of Baja Boss AT’s, and they’re amazing. But I’m going to try the legends this time for the weight savings.

I have the Baja Boss AT in this tire size on my Mojave. Very impressed with how quiet and smooth they are, even with the "chunky" tread pattern.

Full disclosure, I have no experience with the Kenda Klevers.

Throughout my adult life I have only ever ran the Baja Boss, BFG A/T, Toyo Open Country AT3, and Goodyear DuraTracs on any vehicle I have owned. (Jeeps or Tacomas) I cannot speak to tread life with the MT BB, only time will tell.

Co-worker is running Kendas and I have the Baja Boss ATs. Both 35s.

The Kendas arent bad at all, if your primary concern is cost, Kendas. Otherwise, the Mickeys are better tires. I can explain further, but its really not needed, they really are superior with the only exception being cost.

Whatever you decide though, theyre both great.

That sucks, I'm on my 3rd set, had them on my Tundra twice over and now on the JT, out of all 12 of those tires none were unable to be balanced. I did have one issue initially on the Tundra but that was because the tech tried to stack weights and I was running 17s on the Tundra. Basically they started shaving my calipers. 🤔 Quick fix though.

I have had three sets of Baja Boss AT in 37 inch on stock rims. In addition, my oldest son has the same tire on his Jeep. We rock crawl and spend a lot of time in the snow and ice, and this is the tire we have decided is the right tire to run for all conditions.

I was a diehard for the BFG tires…until I ran a set of Baja Boss AT tires. Quite frankly, the Baja Boss AT is the best tire I have used in every condition.

I live in the mountains on dirt roads where ice can get 4-6 inches thick in the winter before we leave for several months, making it difficult to get up the hills to our property.

A few years ago a neighbors Jeep had slide off the edge of the road on a long icy uphill. I used a snatch block and the weight of my Jeep to get him back on the road, and directed him back down the hill…he was admitting defeat on the icy hill. Since I had aired down and already had the lockers engaged, I was able to make a u-turn on the icy hill and slowly crawl up the hill to our property. That rescue confirmed to me that the Baja Boss AT was the tire to run…

I can’t agree more. Just an amazing tire.

Can't go wrong with either tire. I have the 37" Kenda MT's. Love the tires. Have 20,000 miles on them and they still have 17/32" of tread on them.

I'm rolling on 34 inch Baja Legends after decades of being a BFG guy. They are fantastic on the road even at 85mph and the open tread pattern clears mud way better than the BFGs down here in the south.

Thanks very much for the review. From talking to Mickey Thompson, they said they’d be less good on ice, but better in snow and mud. It’s hard considering anything other than the Baja boss, but I’m all but sure I’m going to.

We get it a fair amount at 8,500’ southwest of Denver, but I know how to drive on it. I grew up in Wisconsin driving things with antilock nothing, traction nothing, stability nothing, rear wheel drive, and crap tires. I’m pretty sure anything that says Mickey Thomson, short of drag meats, will be awesome. 😎

I have the MT baja boss in 255/85r17. Two different shops tried to balance them and they're still not quite right. Both times it took a crap ton of weights. Wear is about 55% and they're loud enough that windows down driving is really annoying. They've been substantially better in the rain then my ko2s, about the only positive thing I can say about them.

I can't wait till they wear out and I can justify switching to ko3s.

You’re the first I’ve heard that complains about them being loud. Are you sure you’re at the right pressure?
