Has anyone done any type of mods to the sport bumper? I would really love to add a hoop or something to put some lights on. I know many folks get the steel rubi bumber or an aftermarket one, and I might consider that down the road.

Thanks for the help!

I’m in the same boat. Don’t want to change the plastic bumper right now but would like to mount a couple of KC led Daylighters.

The bumper for the JT is not too different than the JK, TJ, YJ - there is a C Channel hidden in the plastic to provide structure and strength. To add a sport bar or lights just a matter of positioning and bit of fab.

Are they pretty solid, or do they wobble a bunch? Thanks for the pic

I was looking more for a light bar. The one on the JKU was rugged ridge. I guess I might have to just buy one and see if I can refab the mount if possible

No wobble - they are bolted to the steel inner support - rock solid. As noted if you look at the diagrams for the plastic bumper assembly there is a lot of c channel under that roto molded bumper fascia

I would imagine if you found one that was straight - almost like a towel bar you could fab it into bumper. Or wide enough and tap into frame rails behind tow hooks

I think if you found a bar that had the right spread between the two legs, you could fab it either on the two frame rails or even between the two hooks if the parts under the plastic were strong enough and accessible... I am going to do some measuring and looking around
