Against popular belief, you can pry the back of the hood scoop cover and open the hood for true air ventilation. No need to buy a spare or cut it out. Yes, it is glued and requires a little patience. ***NOTE: I am leaving the hood insulation out.***

I chose to go with an LED light bar behind the scoop. A 10” multi-color LED light bar off eBay & (2) 400# fishing magnets later = no cutting or drilling on the Javè.

Just thought I would share. Fun little project. Only $63 to get’er done.

Can you leave the insulation in and just have the opening and no light?
Thanks for showing the pics.
Not unless you plan on cutting a vent hole in the insulation. Even then with it being open you risk moisture collecting in the insulation.

Thanks for posting, have seen the other posts of guys doing it and how easy it is, just no one took a picture of under hood, I'm planning on opening it, but am waiting to see what the parts for the JL 392 hood scoop look like, sure there is some plastic piece that comes out of insulation, as the 392 hood scoop is part of the Cold Air Intake system. Benny at Moparparts is waiting for the 392 part numbers to come out then I will decide, actually putting three pre runner amber lights in there is something I have kicked around, but then again wonder if that is a mall crawler thing......jack.

I don't think the 392 stuff will work because the air intake is on the opposite side I think.

Air intake might not work, or it might , I'm pretty handy, but also not sure there would be much improvement. I'm thinking more for getting rid of heat under hood, I have a Mopar cold air intake and like it, not sure what difference there is but I felt an improvement, my stock Mojave is getting great gas milage and tranny finds 8th all the time, and doesn't downshift on every hill......Jack

now that you have had this on for a while, how do you like it? Are you getting water in the engine bay during driving in the rain? Do you have any pictures of how bright the light is at night?

Zero issues. Haven’t noticed and heat difference either engine cooler or hood hotter due to my insulation being removed but haven’t really checked either. Lots of “oh you have a light bar in there” but few “oh you have an open air vent hood” 😝

Have you had any problems with water dripping into the alternator through the opening?

They way it’s designed very little water gets in from rain. Does when washed obviously. No issues to date.
