Hi all. I have a 2021 Mojave with about 40k miles and recently discovered that the rear locker isnt working at all. We have never used the rear locker as we dont do super aggressive trails but were checking things over before doing some weekend trail riding. The symptoms are as follows and are with the vehicle on, transfer case shifted to correct position, transmission in neutral, brake pedal depressed.

The locker doesnt try to work at all in 4 low or 4 high after pressing the offroad+ button
No indications on dash or offroad pages of any kind
No service lights or warnings
Offroad + button doesnt illuminate when pressed
Offroad+ does not automatically launch the app on the screen but it works when selected manually
Locker button feels loose with no spring return.
All other 4wd functions work as they should.

I have looked around online both here and other websites and youtube. Havent found really anything with these specific symptoms except 1 facebook post with no answers. I have learned much about the rear locker sensor issues and the z-auto bypass wiring dongle that people have used but all of those reference symptoms that im not gettting.

Could that sensor still be the culprit?
Could it be as simple as a blown f40 locker system fuse?
Could it be loose connecter on the back of the locker/offroad+ switch?

Its going to be a few days before i can look into it deeper so just trying to get any advice prior about any things someone may have seen or know about.

If the rear locker sensor was bad you would have lights on the dash.

I would check the fuse then maybe pull the switch panel out see if the wires are connected.

Did you buy the truck new or used?

1.) Having Mojave in 4 low, just pushing rear locker will do it, with or without off road+.
2.) Mojave in 4 Hi, push offroad+ button, then hold ,already lit, ESC button about 5 seconds until it chimes then push rear locker button. I think this was only a Mojave thing back in 2021 but sometime after I think Rubicons could do it also.
Rcoe is correct but before don't anything difficult look under and be sure the connector at differential is connected, perhaps carefully (don't break the tab) pull it apart and reconnect.
I agree about a code or warning and did you buy it new? ......Jack

Could be locking without an indication. Get on a gravel parking lot, engage the locker, and then make the tightest turns possible while being alert for a locked/unlocked axle.

Thanks guys. I did purchase used with 19000 miles back in 2024. I do intend to check the connection on the rear diff and also check if it's actually locking and just not providing feedback. I'm still recovering from a recent hernia surgery is why it's going to be a bit still before I can do much besides research right now.

I can't say for sure but those couple things makes me think that the issue is that panel that houses the Offroad+ button and locker lever. Offroad+ button does nothing but the pages can be manually accessed, locker lever loose and no spring return all at the same time.
Might it have been that way since buying it, or when was the last time you know they did work?
Have you done/had any work done behind that panel or center stack that might have impacted it somehow?
Sensor problems should pop up a dash indicator, I would think.
Keep us posted - I'm curious.

Previous owner might have had dash apart and pulled connectors off something, dash comes apart pretty easy. just get well first or take it to a dealer to check it out.....Jack

Update.

The fuse 40 that is supposedly power for the locker system checks good.

The connector at the diff seems intact and undamaged.

I still need to pull out the dash panel and check the connections on the back of the switch to make sure they havent become disconnected. It really seems like it could be an issue there as the offroad plus button or the locker switch function or seem to have power.

I did recently also have the common issue of the 3rd brake light in the tailgate dying so i replaced it with the Dorman version and it works fine again. At least that was an easy fix.

Latest update. Pulled the panels off from center console. Plug was connected firmly to locker switch assembly. Disconnected and reconnected. Locker and off road plus buttons now work as should. Simple as that. There may be an easier way to “reset” that switch module but it really only took about 5 minutes. Hope this helps someone in the future with similar symptoms and thanks again for the recommendations I got.
