Sometimes when I hop in the truck on a cold morning there is a grinding sound from the rear axle area.
My driveway is straight and gravel, a gentle slope on the drivers side into the grass, nothing a riding mower or my wifes camry cant handle. Sometimes I back into the grass so I dont have to back into the street, when I did this the other night it sounded like I ran over a metal swingset or something (we have no such items in the yard, I actually got this on video as well.). Now today when I got home I tested it and as i back into the yard the drivers side rear tire goes down the slope first then the passenger side. To make a long story short I was able to easily repeat this racket and also discovered that I can just shove up and down on the bumper to repeat it. We determined the best we could that the sound was coming from the fox shocks. It looks like there is a plastic cover on there can I remove this and see if its just got dirt or something in it?
The sound is very similar to a brake grabbing type sound.
